SOURCE: Fork seal replacement

Did you try taking down the fork seal and cleaning out with wd/40 and a piece of 30mm film? You should always try this first. The seals rarely go bad. There's probably just a vary small rock holdeing it open and the film will dislodge it the wd is just to help things along.

SOURCE: have a yamaha thundercat 600 on a 98 plate,it runs

sounds like you definitely have carb issues . got a quick cheap fix first just so you wont have to spend a lot of extra money and time..purchase some SeaFoam from Autozone pour 1/3 can into two gallons on gas and if you havent changed the fuel filter in a long time just drain it out, spray clean it up, and fill it up with some Seafoam. start it and get on it good for about10 to 15 miles, and this should clean up any varnish that could be clogging your jets. if this doesnt fix it then its time to pull the bowls off and physically look to see if the main jets are secure, not loose or fallen off into the bowl.... like when it happened to me once. but when i reinstalled that jet and cleaned up the bowls, it ran awesome infact, since i cleaned up the whole carb bank, it ran better than most 750s and i only have an 87 cbr 600 hurricane, infact it can keep up with most liter bikes, except the R-1, i havent beat that off the line yet. Mine wouldnt go near red line to save my life. Can i get a good helpful feedback if any of this has helped you, thanks, i appreciate.

SOURCE: 2001 YZF 600 R thunder cat: Yamaha yzf 600 Thundercat when under heavy load or...

Many YZF 600's have a problem with second or third gear, under heavy accelleration they will jump in and out of gear, the fix is in the gear selectors,an internal box problem.
If it is a clutch problem, ride in top gear at 100kl\hr and give the clutch lever a flick, see if it grabs or slips for a while and then takes up.

SOURCE: what leavel should oil be

With the bike on the main stand and on level ground, the oil level should be at the top of the sightglass. Be careful to only check the level when the bike is in this position as if it not, it will alter the oil level in the sightglass. I fill the oil to this level in all my bikes.
