2-7 Connector definitions:
Power Connectors

"A 24-pin main power supply connector (JWP1), and three 8-pin CPU PWR connectors (JWP2 / JWP3 /JWP4) on the motherboard.
These power connectors meet the SSI EPS 12V (Volt) specification.

In addition to the 24-pin ATX power connector, the 12V 8-pin CPU connectors at JWP2 / JWP3 / JWP4, MUST be connected to your power supply.

How to connect your hard drive to your motherboard

The first thing you have to figure out is what type of hard drive you have, a PATA or a SATA drive.

PATA = Parallel ATA
This type of drive uses the older IDE connections. Most of your current motherboards still have aleast one IDE connection to support the ROM drives on the market that have not moved over to SATA connections but you can still connect a hard drive to this connection if needed. The thing to keep in mind is that you can only connect 2 IDE devices to one IDE connection on the motherboard.

Here is an example of an IDE cable. If you can see there are tabs on the cable to make sure you line up the pins properly.

SATA = Serial Advanced Technology Attachment
This type is now the standard that most hard drives are. Also note that alot of your ROM drives are switching over to this format as well.

Here is an example of a SATA cable.

In regards to power connectors If you are using a PATA drive then you will use the Molex power connector. Note some of the early SATA drives use this power connector as well.

For the SATA drives you would use the SATA power connector. Note if your power supply does not have this connection you can get an adapter that goes from a Molex connection to the SATA connector.

Next you will need to find the connectors for the hard drive on your motherboard. Below if pictures of the 2 connection types.

The following picture will definitely help you to install new power supply.
mbdguru_0.jpg
The 4 pin CPU power connector is using in most of the desktop motherboard. If your motherboard is gaming type or workstation board you need to connect 8pin CPU power connector. Molex connectors are using to power up DVD Drives and HDDs. In New model power supply instead of molex connector SATA Power connectors are coming.

Hp pavilion 764c wire diagrams

Take a picture of the inside of your computer and put it up on the website with the wire connectors that need to be connected. The connecting wires should be in four groups. 1. The power supply connectors. These connectors will supply power to to all the power using components not supplied power by the motherboard itself. 2 The connections to the other components in your system like the dvd/cd player and the harddrive and floppy drive.3. The motherboard connections for the case. The power switch connector andreset switchconnector. The power led and theharddrive activity light. The USB connector and the audio connector. The fan connections like the cpu fan and other fan only connectors found on the motherboard. The external fans ( Fans that need to be connected to the power supply). Most of these connections are labeled on the motherboard. The case connectors also should be labeled for the correct connection. The best way to find the answers to this hook-up, may be to call HP pavilion with your computer make and model number, motherboard model number including revisions number. Computer made by big manufacturers tend to have may revisions and the only way to make sure your are getting a correct hook-up to the motherboard is call them for assistance.Especially if the motherboard and case labels are not present or so small that they cannot be read.Hope this helps you with your problem.

Can not get motherboard to boot up

the things youre describing that are not controlled by the same power connectors. the 1st set that works are powered i think by the main large rectangular power connector. the stuff that's not working require more power connections. the cpu fan has a small wire that connects to a small connector on the motherboard right near the cpu. the optical drive connects to one of the the 4 pin power connectors coming from the power supply, same with the hard drive- same power connector. the front usb light is going to connect to a specific tiny 2 pin connector on the mobo, it will be labeled with tiny white letters-- try to find or download the manual. godo luck!

Power adapter for Magellan 700 is broken

Connector J1 is the power connector. The left post corresponds to the center lug. The middle post is the outer connection. The right post closest to the USB connection is just an anchor - no connection.

Is there a power button cable connection adapter for IBM P4 motherboard to Biostar mother board?

if you mean that the power connector is a 3 pin socket connection and the pins on the motherboard are not in line and the middle connector hole is in the way, simply snip with scissors the end connector hole and seperate so you have a 2 pin and a 1 pin and just connect the 2 pin and use as a single connector because you wont need it and connect the 1 pin that you cut away to the other terminal

Cannot connect Speedlight to SK-6 Power Bracket

A change was made in the flash power connector on later Nikon Speedlights and the Power Bracket Model SK-6. It is impossible to connect a flash with the older (square) connector to a newer SK-6 or vice versa. The flash on the left has the older square-style connector, while the one on the right has the newer connector. Both the Speedlight and the SK-6 must have the same style connector. Please contact Nikon Service about having the units modified for compatibility.
