Question about Frigidaire ATF6000ES Front Load Washer
The door lock light comes on most of the time, but the machine still won't start. I checked all the obvious things -- water line, water in waste line, electricity, resetting. It has an error code E31 when I check the diagnostic panel. Also, if I push ******* the door after the lock light is on, it makes a buzzing sound (but still doesn't work). Any ideas how to fix this?

Easy things first: Check the water hoses are all connected, the taps are on, and that the hoses aren't kinked. Everything after that involves poking around live terminals. If you aren't happy doing this, then don't be ashamed to call someone else in. Turn the power off. Remove the top panel from the machine. On the inside of the back panel near the top, you will find the fill valves (on a few machines, there is only the one). These are the items that the fill hoses you checked a minute ago plug into. Follow the hoses inside the machine from the soap dispenser back to the valves to identify which valve is the one which washes soap into the machine at the very start of the cycle. On the top of this valve are two terminals. Attach the leads of a multimeter to these, and select an ac volts range that will stand seeing mains voltage. (If you haven't got a multimeter, suggest you buy a cheap one from the local hardware shop - it will come in handy for all sorts of things once you have it). Turn the machine on and start a wash cycle. If the meter shows mains voltage across the terminals of the valve, and yet no water is flowing into the machine, you need to replace the valve. This is a cheap part to buy, and not difficult to do yourself. IF you don't find any volts across the valve, it's worth trying the other valves to make sure you haven't got the wrong one, but then it's beginning to look like a controller problem - at which point it's worth paying someone else to come in and look at it: Once expensive parts get involved, you either need to be sure you know what's broken, or be sure you can take unneeded, but briefly installed replacement parts back. Before removing your meter leads, don't forget to turn the power off. A.

Yes, the original issue was the control from the beginning. the control is damaged and it cannot register the latch at this point. this is necessary and , it will fix the issue.

That is not the solution.
Start the machine and immediatly press the "Start" and "Pause/cancel" button at the same time. Then you will get and ERROR code. Look on the cheat sheet packed with the machine to find out what is really wrong. That will give you the real answer.

There is next to no adjustments so if the door dropped then the hinge must be bent . You may be able to very gently pull up on the door and re-align it but most likely you will have to replace the hinge.

Hello D, thanks for your inquiry!
From the information you have provided your Frigidaire washer, GLTF2940WH, will not start and the door will not lock. This could be a possible problem with your door strike, door latch, or control panel. I would suggest checking over your strike and latch to assure there is not physical damage. You could also perform a reset, just in case it is a communication issue, by disconnecting power from your washer for at least ten minutes. If that does not help resolve your issue I would suggest having a professional technician out to perform proper repairs. This will prevent you from purchasing multiple unnecessary parts. -Matt

Thank you for your inquiry!
From what you are describing it sounds like a possible issue with your door latch assembly or control panel. If your latch is not catching the door strike or the strike is not sitting securely inside of the latch it could cause the washer to pause because it is not sensing that the door is locked.
It could also be a sensor within the control panel causing the issue and if that is the problem the control panel would need to be replaced. I recommend reaching out to a professional for further assistance to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. -Matt
