SOURCE: When i switch on my Bernina Artista 180 it blows

4 amp??? More likely 1.6 slow blow. The problem solution is changing the power supply, called a Classic L-print. Typical on the 130/180 Bernina.

SOURCE: I have a Bernina Sewing Machine with a Control Board that smoked

Bernina does not sell individual components for PCBs, rather they have an exchange program for the entire board. But you have nothing to lose and much money to save if you can obtain the parts and replace them yourself. You should be able to get the caps and resistors from any electronics supply.

Board bernina 1030

As you will have noticed, you cannot open the end of a Bernina 1030.

There are two light bulbs on this machine, visible on either side of the needle bar and presser foot shaft. Viewed from the rear of the machine, you can see the one on the right but the one on the left is beneath a transparent plastic cover that slides out easily (but does not come right out).

To remove either of the bulbs, which are a bayonet fit, open the accessories box attached to the rear of the machine and take out the screwdriver tool from the top row, on the left hand side by the bobbin storage. One end of the screwdriver is a screwdriver (!) and the other end has a plastic tube - this is designed to grip the bulb.

Place the plastic tube on the end of the bulb, push a little and rotate anti-clockwise about a quarter of a turn to release the bulb.

The bulbs are both 6 Volts, 4 Watts. board-bernina-1030-yfctketow5dlawzorpkxttl4-1-10.jpg

Bernina 1030 needle not moving up or down

I believe the 1030 has a basting stitch, similar to the 930 Record. If the basting stitch is not run regularly, it may lock up the machine requiring a technician's expertise to get it working again.

I want fix circuit board of my bernina 1030

I have found that the bernina machines in this general product range (i.e. with the slide-in processor boards) do tend to suffer from dry-joints, randomly throughout the boards. If you take the double-stack boards out after removing the handwheel-end cover, separate the two boards, carefully and dont loose the plastic spacers on the securing screws. Best thiong is just to go through the board carefully with a magnifying glass, re-soldering any joints that show signs of having 'frozen' when manufactured. Also, carefully clean the two connectors that provide interconnection between the control board and main processor board with a suitable contact cleaner. I also make a point of removing any surplus flux that may still be on the board from manufacture, using the above cleaner. Most symptoms tend to be when the machine randomly swaps between stitches. The rotary controls are special and not commercially available, so if they get 'scratchy', unsolder them first and give them a good spray with contact cleaner to remove any surface contamination on the potentiometer surface. Icant help with a circuit diagram. By the way, if the motor isn't running properly, the problem is on the power supply 'L'-print on the back of the machine - not the main control board. There is an adjuster on the PSU that is used to set the motor speed. Make a note of its position and just try rotating it back-and-forth a few times, again to clean the track, then return it to approx where it was - this might cure the problem. Again, I dont have a circuit diagram of the 'L'-print.
