Question about Proton NT-3460 32" TV

1 Answer

Black screen with audio available

14 year old visits, doesn't comprehend tv/av button and does something beyond my abilities to correct. Screen is black, but audio is available through all inputs. 'BLOCK' is ON under TV menu, but will not allow to turn OFF. Oh yeah, of course I no longer possess the manual or the remote. Slick. Please advise. Over.

Re: black screen with audio available

Only thing I can tell you here is contact proton. This is a hard company to get any customer service from after you buy a product . I also may suggest go back to where you bought the set, maybe they have a servicer who can get you an owners m,anual and give you the info your looking for. JVC TV has a black box on TV after watching a DVD. Tv picture is available around black box and have sound. But I can't see the TV shows with this giant black box in the middle. It happened after viewing a...

That black box is the closed caption display. There is a button on your TV remote marked cc, ccd, or closed caption display. When you press this button, you should see something pop-up on the TV screen. With most TVs every time you press the button the TV will cycle to the next cc option. There are several cc options available. One of the options should be "Off". Keep pressing the button until you see off and then stop. This should correct your problem.

JVC model AV 278p6 standard television

I'll bet you have vertical output IC with some pins not soldered. This IC ( integrated circuit) is a "chip" that makes the picture fill out from top to bottom. After a period of time heat will cause the pins to crack loose on the circuit board. You need to have a tech check it for you. Stargazer
