Question about Apex Digital PF2025 20" TV

1 Answer

Buttons on TV or remote not working. Can only cycle through video input options.

The only button that works properly is on/off button. None of the buttons on the TV itself work. A few (volume, channel up/down) buttons on the remote cause the TV to cycle through the video input options, but do nothing else. No other buttons work. I can do nothing but turn the TV on/off and cycle through the video input options.

It sounds as though the TVs in a demo mode. Has someone recently been over and was playing with the remote. If so go into the menu of the tV set and look for set up and demo mode. Turn off the demo mode. if this doesent help call i-866-427-3946 and talk to the customer service deptartment. Good Luck

Hello

If you have its original remote control you can unlock its parential settings and reset it. Then only you can watch other channels also. I'm ver sorry to say that if you lost your TVs remote control, you will be unable to unlock it. Try to get a remote from any of your friends who owns the same model number RCA TV. If you are able to get it, do the following with that remote, and reset the V-chip. Try to purchase one new remote control from RCA.

Most RCA and GE TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset is different depending on the model. Try each number until you find the one that works for you.

  1. Hold down the MENU button on the remote and VOLUME DOWN button on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
  2. Hold down the 0 (zero) button on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN button on the TV itself at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
  3. Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. 4- Hold down GO BACK button on the remote and MENU button on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
  4. Hold down EJECT button on the front of the TV set and the MENU button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip by going to the MENU and going to PARENTAL CONTROLS, or on some sets, going to MENU and then going to TV SETUP, then to V-CHIP SET.

Samsung 40 hd tv the vol will not come down from 100 percent . I try to turn the vol down and it will not turn down. what can I do. tks mike

I presume that the volume will not turn down from either the remote control or the volume buttons on the side of the tv. If the volume down button works on the side of the tv then the remote control is suspect to be faulty. If neither remote or tv volume buttons work then check whether the channel buttons work on the tv (not remote). If none of these work then check the input connection from the buttons /infra red reciver to the main pcb. This is a push on cable connector. As a point, also check that the volume up button on the tv is not stuck in, and feels the same as the other buttons when pressed.

My tv was playing fine when I turned it off. Later, I drop the remote prior to attempting to turn the tv on.Tv will not turn on with or without remote.

OK, YES you CAN turn on the TV without the remote, in fact you can do nearly everything that can be done on your remote, on the TV itself, NOW look, CAREFULLY around the edged or sides of your set, you will find there are "Buttons" usually there are 6 - 7 Buttons, if you look carefully at them you will see they are marked, usually with a Volume Up & Down, word, or symbol, A Channel Up & Down, buttons a Menu, an Enter, and an ON/OFF button, & sometimes others. Now To turn on, Press and hold the Power button, the TV will Turn ON, you can change Channels, with the Channels, and Volume, with the Volume ones. The Menu button, will allow selection to all the other sub menus and settings. IF you need to get a remote, Please, get an original, it may be more hassle, it may take longer to get, it maybe costs more... BUT IT WILL WORK. Universal remotes, well, read through a few posts dealing with them, and you will see what I mean. IF you MUST get one, absolutely ensure that it performs every function the original one did, or you can have many headaches.

I need to re tune my samsung tv but have no remote any ideas?

you can always use the button on your Tv itself.

ie menu = Menu
Channel up/down = take you up and down
volume = goes left and right.

follow these steps

Menu,
channel down button to CHANNEL
press the volume button along
channel down button to AUTO STORE
press the volume button to Start the scan.

right now you have your telly tuned in. What you could do it get an old sky remote off a friend/ neighbour. or buy from argos etc ( a lot cheaper then getting a replacement samsung one)

press the following buttons on the sky remote to program it to work with your samsung tv.

TV,
RED + SELECT
TV.
0060

try the volume if this works press SELECT to save this code if it doesnt press Tv then try the volume again. repeat this step until the volume works your telly. once it doest dont forget to press the SELECT button to save.

Now you will be able to change your volume use the number keys. if you also press the HELP button on the sky remote this will also change your AV / SOURCE I hope this post helps you out. When it does please leave a thumbs up for me Please

Remotes working sporatically

Your description suggests bad/dirty contacts inside the remotes and jammed volume buttons on one of them. Cleaning the rubber pads and the circuit boards on all of the remotes might solve the problem.
Use some ethyl or isopropyl alcohol and cottonwool to clean them.

By the way, here's a nice way to test a remote using your mobile phone's camera:

Turn the camera on, point the remote towards the camera lens so you can see it on the mobile's display.

Look at the display on your mobile phone and press buttons on your remote - you should see bluish/greenish flashes from your remote's emmiter each time you press a button on the remote (the camera on your mobile shows infrared light from the remote as visible light on the display - if it doesn't do so in the normal mode, try the night mode for the camera instead).

If you press a button and there are no flashes, that button probably has a bad/dirty contact.

if the remote is making flashes even when the buttons are released, this means that a button is jammed (you need to clean the rubber pads and the housing, especially the holes where the buttons come through as there's probably some dirt that keeps the button pressed in, which causes the volume to go up/down all by itself).

hope this helps...

Sylvania 6313CB 13" TV/VCR replacemnt remote

We have a Sylvania 6313CB TV/VCR combo.  I bought a universal remote and the code would not work when I tried to program it to the "TV" button using all those possible codes listed in the books.  So, on the universal remote, there was a button named "VCR" and when I programmed in the code "0000" all worked.  This was a $6.00 universal remote named "One For All"  we bought at the Big Lots store.
Specifically, here is what I did:
Turned TV on Pushed the "VCR" button and light blinked once Pushed and held the "set" button until it blinked twice Released the "set" button and entered the numbers "0000" Pushed the on/off button and it worked including volume, channel up/down and channel change by entering the channel number.
Hope this works for you too.
