Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Third cable Our old Dell monitor went bad, so our daughter gave us her old LG monitor, model W2040TV. With no instructions. It has 3 cables coming out of the rear of it, A power cable, a black male cable 1" wide that will fit into the monitor slot on the back of our PC, and a blue male cable 5/8" wide. I do have a 5/8" unused slot where it could fit, on the back of the PC, but it is unmarked as to what it is for. Can you tell me what the function of this cable is, and if it is safe to plug it into the CPU ? My old monitor also has a third cable, but it plugged into a usb slot. Greg Hertel grepat@wi.rr.com

My Dell Ultrasharp 2707 Monitor is flickering (badly).

Sounds like a bad monitor, (something inside may have went bad or pulled loose, or maybe bad monitor cable). Contact Dell and have them ship you a replacement under warranty. When your eceive the replacement, you will have a return label. place your old monitor in the package with the return lable, and contact Fed Ex (Dell uses fedex) and schedule a pick up at your convenience.

Monitor will not work

Your model number indicates the LCD is made by BenQ. This model is known for poor solder connection causing the inverter driver transistors to short, resulting in immediate shutdown if the inverter circuit. Disassembly and testing the transistors is the only solution I know.

Monitor in Power Save Mode

The inverter power logic is probably going bad. You can get it here as well as look at instructional videos on DELL monitors.
