Check seal around door. A tiny bit of air will freeze it up as will leaving door open too much if defroster is not working. With a bad seal after a time the defroster wont be working.

ICE FORMS IN FREEZER BOTTOM,

Keep the bottom of your freezer free from ice. ... The water from the melted ice and frost drains through a short tube and into a pan beneath the refrigerator, where it evaporates. Should the drain line become clogged, the water has nowhere to go and it freezes, forming a layer of ice in the bottom of your freezer.

Ice forming at bottom of freezer

I had a problem with Ice forming in the bottom of my freezer on my whirlpool side by side freezer-refrigerator. Turn out to be a plugged drain in the bottom of the freezer. That drain goes into a tray under the whole unit. During Defrost, condensate drops from the contents of the freezer on to the bottom of the freezer and goes through a drain tube to a pan underneath. Should that drain tube become plug and the water is left standing in the bottom of the freezer, it will turn back to ice after the defrost cycle is over. Once the drain tube is clean out, the problem goes away.

A sheet of ice has formed on the bottom of the freezer. Why.

There is a drain port in the behind the freezer panel where all of the water drains when your evaporator coils defrost. It has gotten clogged with food, or ice. Thaw all of the ice and unplug the drain hole, and ice will stop forming on the bottom of your freezer.

There is layer of ice that has formed at the bottom of the freezer side. Due to this there is a leak of water that appears every two or three days. I cleaned the layer of ice once and after 2 or 3 weeks...

Sounds like the drainage hole is blocked with ice, i normally take the back cover off the freezer and at the bottom you will see a build up of ice at the bottom, turn freezer off and carefully remove as much ice as you can, then pour some boiling water over the excess ice and in the middle you will see a drain hole make sure water then freely flows down drain hole. Other than that you could try switching your freezer off for 24 hours to clear ice.

Ice is forming on bottom and back wall of freezer can any one help with this

there are two types of freezer, one is upright freezer (same as refrigerator on outside look but inside all the layers are same as the freezer of an ordinaryrefrigerator) the other one is the chest type freezer(basically it looks like a chest cabinet),now about the forming of ice at the bottom and back wall, well should be all side of the freezer should have ice on it,

Just one question to ask? Did you used any sharp object in removing ice(ex. knife, ice pick , etc,)

If you do then there are a possibility that you do some hole on the tubes where the Freon Gas (chemical refrigerant) are passing thru, then in that case you might have leakage. Well that means you really need to call a technician to do the job, because you'll gonna need to fix the hole and re-charge a freon gas.(having not enough refrigerant on the system, your refrigerator might not able to produce ice completly.

The other possible reason is that your motor compressor might be damaged(possible reason: Lost compression) it has something to do with pump compression inside the motor (only technician can solve this problem)

Ice at bottom of freezer

Make sure defrost drain is completely cleared of ice and anything else obstructing it. Pouring hot water in it is correct, but make sure it is going all the way through to defrost pan under unit.

Water leaking and ice in bottom shelf of freezer

Chances are you have a bad seal around the door if it's leaking from the inside which causes the ice to form as well, or if it's leaking from under the freezer you lave a bad heating element that evaporates the water collected in the pan under the freezer or you have a clogged hose that goes to the pan under the freezer which also causes the ice to form because the water has no place to go. Defrost and try to find a way to blow out the hose that goes from your freezer to the pan under the freezer and that should take care of your problem.

GE Monogram refrigerator/freezer problem/ice dam in ice maker

I have had the same problem with ice forming. I found the problem is from the ice maker. The water fill tube delivers water to a plastic piece that acts like a funnel. The water goes through this plastic piece into the ice maker. Ice forms in the plastic funnel piece causing the water to overflow into the ice bin and freezer.
