Can't reset lamp timer after lamp replacement on Panasonic PT-AE40000

My Panasonic PT-AE4000 is giving me fits. The original 'REPLACE LAMP' warning came on around 2000 hours. I purchased a brand new lamp (ET-LAE4000, same as what came out of the unit) and had it shipped to me. While waiting for the lamp we crossed the 2000 hour threshold on the projector and it began to turn itself off automatically after 10 minutes. When I received the new lamp (no issues, it works fine), I replaced the old one per the user's manual/instructions that came with the replacement. Unfortunately I cannot get the lamp timer to reset and the projector continues to power itself down after 10 minutes. I have contacted Panasonic but their technical support consists of looking up the manual for the projector and reading me the section on how to replace/reset the lamp. The current lamp has around 2034 hours on it (you can see how long I have been working on this issue). Panasonic now wants me to uninstall it, pack it up and ship it to their Kansas facility for service ($130 to diagnose, plus the cost of whatever the fix is plus shipping both ways). I am, of course, out of warranty. I thought I would ask here before shipping it off to Panasonic or throwing it in the river and buying something new. Has anyone else dealt with this?

I have a Panasonic PT-AE4000U and could not reset the timer after replacing the bulb with a, non-Panasonic branded bulb. Calls to tech support were not very helpful. It was another bad customer service experience. Through troubleshooting it myself, I discovered the solution was simply to unplug EVERYTHING (serial cable, hdmi cables, etc.) from the device, power it off and back on. Follow the procedure in the manual, the timer immediately reset!!

I just replaced the lamp module after we ran the projector until the old lamp quit working. Since replacing the lamp I haven't been able to get a picture, menu, and kind of projection or light from the projector. I can't navigate the menu when I can't see it. It's a Panasonic PT-AE4000. I'd love it if someone could give me the key sequence so I can try to reset the lamp timer before buying a new module or paying for diagnosis/repair.

Thanks,
Katie

I had the same problem. Two resets of my AR-100U and I was still getting the lamp warning. Finally I disconnected the video signal from its input, turned the projector on, and was able to reset the lamp timer to zero.

SOURCE: Can I reset my lamp timer without replacing the lamp?

That should be fine to do. Even if the projector did alter the current based on lamp life, the worst that could happen in the lamp would burn out completely. A good projector should have a safety circuit with a fuse to prevent damage to any internal components. You should be fine.

Panasonic Projection TV Lamp Timer Reset
Your lamp will probably last a lot longer than the TV thinks it should. This procedure will reset the lamp timer so you don't have to look at that annoying message every time you turn your tv on. Remember that the "lamp" indicator light on the lower left of the set will stay on until the lamp is actually replaced. I had to buy a replacement lamp to get this information, could not find it anywhere for these model numbers.
Press the volume down button on the projection display and hold down the zero button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds. When the reset procedure is complete, a message will display that the lamp timer was reset to zero.
This procedure will work for Panasonic models: PT-52LCX66 , PT-56LCX66 , PT-61LCX66 , PT-52LCX16 , PT-56LCX16 , PT-61LCX16

Reset timer panasonic d6000

Hello!
Have you bought bare lamp? Probably, yes. And not from "Panasonic"? yes. The timer's reset procedure is different for every model of Panasonic, including TVs. when you buy lamp with housing from Panasonic, they will give you the directions, how to. If it's "aftermarket", nope!
http://www.manualowl.com/m/Panasonic/PT-D5600U/Manual/52045
that's where you will find the procedure. it's quite complicated, page 45.
follow the directions.
good luck,
Alex.

I've just replaced the lamp on my Panasonic PT-LM2E projector and it will switch on but no light comes out. The previous lamp blew in the projector after around 2000 hrs. The indicators are as...

I'd recommend checking the fans of the projector, and make sure that they're spinning. Since you've mentioned that the lamp blew inside the unit, bits and pieces of the lamp might have lodged itself within the fans. It might also have to do w/ the after-market replacement bulb, which I normally wouldn't recommend.

How do you reset the lamp timer in a PT-DW5100?

When you remove one of the lamps, you're notice that there's a micro-chip build into the housing itself. Unfortunately there's no way of manually resetting the lamp hours, due to the chip. You'll need to replace the whole lamp assembly.

You may have a bad lamp. Open the door on the side & pull lamp. The part number is TY-LA2006. They cost about $200-225. BE SURE to reset the lamp timer. If you buy an original Panasonic TY-LA2006 lamp, it will have instructions to reset lamp timer.

My new lamp from Opto Lamps has a plastic tab on the top stopping the cover from closing, do I have to brack this off?

I had the exact same issue with my new Panasonic PT-AE700u bulb. I contacted the company I purchased it from and they authorized the removal of the tab. I used my Dremel tool to slice it off and the bulb ended up working like a charm.

If everything else fits fine...the door just doesn't close, check with the company you purchased the bulb from and see what they recommend. This sounds like a common issue with "OEM" or "Original" bulbs these days.
