SOURCE: Moen Bath Tub Faucet

Hi varn4620,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You had to replace the faucet in the tub due to a broken plastic piece in valve stem. Bought a Moen ripped the wall out and put new faucet in. Went good untill we turned the water on and the shower rained on us. Tightened everything you could find to tighten .Every time the water is turned on the shower rains. Can this be fixed or is the faucet broken?

Is this new faudet a single handle? If so I"ve had this experience also. Most of the time it's because the guts were not lined up properly at the factory. You may have to play with it a bit.
Turn off the water and take the handle off and remove the sleave, remove and rotate the guts. Try 90' at a time. Turn water on to try it. Useually one of the other 3 positions will be right. The correct position is there, but it may take time to find it.

Feel free contact me again!

Thank you,
Harvey your Master Plumber

SOURCE: My MOEN shower faucet will not shut off the shower.

You should take the handle off. To do this, Turn Off the water supply to the Shower. Remove the handle with a screw driver or alan wrench. Now you can see the assembly. There should be a nut or some kind of threaded ring holding in the GUTS of the Faucet. Gently pull out the unit (Remember or write down how it goes together). Now visually inspect it and see if you can find an obstruction or broken piece that is causing it to stay open. If there are broken parts you can get them at a Plumbing Supply Store. If every thing seems fine and it seems to work when you have it out, then put it carefully back together, turn on the water and try it again. This has worked for me a few times in the past, Just taking it out, cleaning it , and putting it back together......Good Luck......I hope this helps you with this situation....Joe

Sometimes the valve sticks to the handle, try spraying a little vinegar or delimer and let it sit a moment; then wiggle it loose.

HAVE MOEN MODEL INS792A WIDESPREAD 2 HANDLE BATHROOM FAUCET - LOOSE HANDLE ON LEFT SIDE - KEPT INSTRUCTIONS (PICS ONLY) - CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO TIGHTEN LOOSE HANDLE - HELP??? THNX!

There is a cap on the top of the handle which can be removed by popping it out with a knife or a small flat tip screw driver. Inside you will see a screw which holds the handle to the faucet. Tighten this and replace handle cap.

The handle is loose and the screw seems to be as tight as possible. It is a Moen single handle tub set.

might be that the spacer is missing. there is a small brass spacer located between the handle and the stem. if this is missing, your handle will feel like it's loose.

Delta shower faucet with a single handle lose

You need a faucet handle puller, you can get these at most home center and hardware/plumbing stores.
Once you get the handle and cover off you might just find that the control was never fully mounted.

these valves can be adjusted by removing the handle and adjusting the white gear that regulates the hot and cold that come out, try going more to one way if it gets colder then go the other way.
