I have the same problem... I took my camera to the sony shop and he gave it a once over, finally coming to the conclusion that I just need a new battery. I got a new battery and it turned on fine. I went to use it a few days later and it didn't turn on at all.

When you say "does not turn on" do you actually mean the pictures are black? because i just found a solution for that problem. My camera turned on, but the image was black: see http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/11/sony-konica-minolta-cameras.html and Sony's website re: recall repair http://esupport.sony.com/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=161&mdl=DSCT1

I had the same problem, it would work for a while then stop. Finally solved it by inserting a paper shim beneath the plate that applies pressure to the battery. It worked fine since. Mulletman

Hello, I've had a DSC-T1 camera since 2005 and it's worked great, but now every time I charge it the battery doesn't charge and the camera overheats (to the point where touching it burns your fingers). ...

I suspect the battery is defective and if it is overheating it may have damaged your built in charger in the camera. That could present a fire hazard. I would first try a new battery.

Battery for Sony DSC T-300

I bought a SONY DSC-S750 3 months ago. Since last week, when i turn the camera on, appears the message "for use with compatible battery only". The battery came with the camera. The camera was bought in a big store in Philadelphia. I WILL NEVER BUY A SONY CAMERA AGAIN. I already tried to reset, tried to remove the battery and the problem persists.

Battery Charge

Get another battery and try charging it. You should have a second, backup battery anyway. That should narrow it down between the charger and the battery as to which is defective. How old is the camera? It may be a better investment to put the money into a new camera. Also, look on EBay for a new charger if you find that it is the problem. There are many third-party manufacturers of chargers and batteries that work fine and cost much less.
