SOURCE: Have a McCulloch 3818 chainsaw.

Get a compression gage and see if the compression is to specifications. May two stroke cycle engines wear quickly due to the light oil ratio we presently use on them.

SOURCE: how do you remove the bar on 3818 mcculloch chain

You should see a hex key or Allen wrench nut somewhere on or near that cover. After you get it off, you should see 2 hex nuts for adjusting/removing the bar and/or chain tension, right on the bar, under the cover.

How do you change the gas tank on a mcculloch 3818 chain saw?

Unfortunately the saw has to be mostly disassembled down to just about the block... You MAY get by leaving the carb and intake assembled. After removing the filter cover and filter, start by removing the top of the handle to expose the throttle linkage and trigger locks. Use an I-phone if possible to document every angle you can imagine to make sure reassembly is easier. The guide bar and outer side cover as well as the handle may even have to come off on this saw. The recoil as well will have to be removed. The fuel lines will have to come off the carb as well as the tank vent. Go slow and take a lot of pictures....It's not that difficult. Be sure to have the correct torx or allen head wrenches along with long needlenose pliers and possibly a phillips scredriver. Pick up a couple spray cans of carb cleaner to thoroughly clean the area prior to starting the project and plug in the air compressor. You are gonna need it.

Mcculloch pro mac 610 testing the ignition coil

You'll need a helper for this! Remove the spark plug from the engine. Re-install plug wire onto the plug and hold the plug with INSULATED pliers, putting the electrode on the block or head of the engine. The electrode or body of the spark plug MUST be in contact with a metal part of the engine! Pull the start rope, watching for a BLUE spark from the plug electrode - any other color spark and there is an issue with the coil output. If no spark, check for proper power and ground to the coil - many times there will be oil buildup on the ground or a broken positive lead connector.
Hope this helps!!

I have a 36cc MS1436 model saw. I think the plug is bad. I has a Jenn Feng # 9295-310502. Any idea what this crosses to in Champion or NGK. I've searched the WEB to no avail.

I cannot find ANY IPL for a McCulloch (MTD) MS1436. The nearest matches are a Mac 3516 (600035 - MS1635AV) or a Mac 3818 (600038 - MS1838AV). Both use a Champion RDJ7Y. Take your plug to an auto parts store, compare it with a Champion RDJ7Y and I think they will match, if not they will have something that will. HTH

Have a McCulloch 3818 chainsaw. when it warms up it wants to die and then after restart after restart after restart, it boggs down. Air filter is clean Spark plug is fine new gas hose cleaned carb

Had this problem with my saw (3818) there are two adjustment screws on the side of the carb there is a hole in the plastic to get to them just fwd of the choke slide, not the idle adjustment which is farther fwd of the other. take a 1/8" flat head screwdriver, get the saw running and turn them ever so slightly till you can get a good idle, they only have a 1/2 turn of adjustment each, it doesnt take much
