Fridgidaire Gallery Series Side by Side Refridgerator

I purchased my fridge back in Dec 2004 and recently we noticed a pool of water underneath the freezer part. We mopped it up thinking it was probably just ice that fell from the ice despensor. Well the pool of water continued over timeand we realized the fridge was actually leaking. We moved the fridge out, checked the connections etc, everything was fine. Plus no water back of fridge near connections.
We called repair, he checked things and assured us it was just the connections. Well the fridge still leaked. Repair called again, we even unhooked the connections. We felt no water to fridge no leak. It continued to leak, for 3 weeks after we unhooked the water from fridge.
The repairman has no idea what it could be other then telling us that he should replace all parts to correct the problem.
Looking for a simple answer.

I have the exact same problem and would love to find a solution. We've also had repair out to look at it, can find nothing wrong. We've checked all connections, nothing disconnected or out of place. Water freezes in the bottom of the freezer, so the bottom pull-out shelf is not usable because everything will eventually freeze to the bottom.

We have had the same problem as well but intermittently. However, I did "catch" it in the act while a small trickle of water was running out of the ice/water dispenser. My theory is a thermostat issue that is causing the freezer to get stuck in the defrost mode? Often times, when this happens, the ice is rather "melty" and then after a few days, we stop getting ice and notice that the ice maker is jammed and the cubes are halfway melted and appear to have refrozen on the tines of the ice maker causing it to seize up. We were tired of the problem and just bought a GE and are selling the Frigidaire with full disclosure of the ice maker problem. I figure by the time we pay for a repair (parts & labor), we'll break even with selling the old at a bargain price and buying a new one.

"jennycub" sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine. very common problem( easy to detect. water on the floor of freezer compartment) as far as the other posting by" humblerumble", ive seen where the drain tube under the refig has pushed a hole into the drain pan under the refrig, in which case it will only leak after a defrost cycle, with the kickplate removed grab a flashlight and look under the unit for the drain pan as you pur water into the back of the freezer sect to trace water flow

If the filter itself is leaking then you will need to replace the filter, otherwise check the o-rings and lines going to the filter.

My fridgidaire freezer defrosts frequently and has water leaking out the front of the door

The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? The defrost water
overflows into the ref. or freezer or on floor
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Bottom of fridge collects water

Hello there:
I have written a few steps for you to follow and try ok?
  1. Manufacturers have different ways to dispose of the water created during automatic defrost cycles. The most common design routes the water down a rubber tube on the back of the fridge to a tray beneath. This tube often gets plugged with breadcrumbs, peas etc. and can generally easily be removed and cleaned.
  2. Make sure the end of the hose is sitting in the defrost tray.
  3. If your hose was not plugged and you have found water running down the back wall inside the fridge or a pool under the bottom crisper has formed. Check if there is a small funnel located on the back wall near the top inside the fridge. It can also get plugged; you can use a small wire and work it in and out of the hole.
  4. Some designs do run the water down the back wall and have a drain hole under the crisper, make sure it is not plugged.
I hope that this has been verry helpfull for you
best regards michael
