Question about KitchenAid KSRS25IL Side by Side Refrigerator

2 Answers

Ice Maker froze up and stopped working, defrosterd the icemaker and it refilled on its own but would not eject the ice cubes. Called service man and he replaced the icemaker that would not work, made a second service call and replaced the icemaker again. STILL does not work. Won't auto fill, manually filled the ice maker but still will not eject ice cubes. Tried to call Kitchen Aid Tech services and that is useless. Does anyone have suggest or a possible solution, the unit is only two years old. Thanks

Thanks for the info, the filler tube is clear. When the frezzer door is open, the light blinks on the rightside as you stated. When I close the left flap the lights still blinks and does not show steady read light. So...I assume the the sensor is bad and should repleace the sensor unit?? Or due you have any futher suggestions? Thanks for you input..

Charles, these models have a habit of the inlet tube freezing over. Make sure the black tube feeding the trough is clear. You may want to disconnect it from the back and see if you can blow through it. I use hot water in a baster to clear them all the time. Another thing is to check the optics. When opening the freezer door the red optic light on the right should flash 2x with a pause repeatedly. When you close the left hand emitter flapper the light should stay on. If it does this your optics are good. Because of these optics the new ice-maker has to be jumped started into a cycle. Once started you can monitor the fill. back.

Charles, when you depress the left side emitter flap the light on the right should be on steady. Make sure your hand is not blocking the beam. If it's not you more than likley have a optic problem and both right side and left side boards should be replaced. This is not uncommon on these models. This is not a hard job, but make sure to unplug the refer before changing them out. After changing them out follow these steps to start the ice maker. 1. Remove the ice maker from the cradle but leave the harness connected. Remove the front cover from the module. Unplug the refrigerator. Get a small jumper wire with bare ends and jump T and H on the module, leave the jumper in and set the ice maker on the shelf. Close the door. Now plug the refer back in and wait 30 seconds. Open the door and the ice-maker should be cycling. Remove the jumper, put the module cover back on and set it back in the cradle. The fill should take place when the ejector blades reach the 12:00 position. Follow these steps exactly in back

It may be just a little too warm in the freezer. Get a cheap refrigerator thermometer (like this one ) and measure the temp. in the freezer. It should be at 0*F or below. quote: Won't auto fill -- I'm not sure about this one. Sounds like a new problem created by the service man. Was the same person out there both times? Hope this helps, APP tech

Ice maker on refrigerator does not work at all

Notwithstanding the ABSENCE of MAKE+MODEL...

Nothing came through with your "question"... ERGO

Most, generally & typically should be in front of everything that looks or sounds like a FACT.

Every ICE MAKER (I've ever worked on)has an on/off control...
Find it... turn it off, on, off & on several times (cycle the switch
(like lower the FILL wire ... or operate the on/off switch)).

ICE-MAKER heads are a relatively simple device with motor driven electro-mechanical sequencers that time water fill (adjustable), cube "done-ness" ((firmness by adjustable temperature)... and then "operate the fill valve... fill the tray...
Rotate the tray and eject the cubes.. refill with water...

If you can see or feel ice in your TRAY your...
you have NO ISSUE with your WATER VALVE...

To test this... use an ordinary water bottle and Put some water in your ICE TRAY...

Check back in an hour ...if your cubes have been NOT deposited into your ice bin... your ice-maker is turned off, has a open fuse or is defective & needs repair.

If it has ejected your cubes but you have not been refilled your WATER VALVE is defective...
replace it.

Hope this helps.

My whirlpool refrigerator model # is no longer making ice consistently it will drop a few cubes every now and then. the lines are clear and no blockage what could be the problem?

Scale builds up in older icemakers and some of the cubes stick and don't eject.
Check your ice maker after it dumps and see if its keeping some of the cubes and
not ejecting them.
There are cleaners for the Icemaker. Call your local Parts Store.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects theb you need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
Thank you for using fixya

GE TBX21ji Refridgerator/Freezer Factory Icemaker quit making ice

Normally, when the temp of the icemaker gets to about 14 degrees F, the icemaker goes into the harvest mode, turning on the mold heater and attempting to eject the cubes. When the heater has warmed the mold sufficiently to release the cubes, the ejector can continue and push out the cubes, then the icemaker fills with fresh water to beging to make a batch of ice again. Manually starting the cycle as you have done only allows the cycle to start without the temp sensor seeing the 14 degrees. The mold heating generally takes a couple minutes. If your mold heater or the temp sensor are not working, you will have to replace the icemaker, as they are not available as a repair parts.

AMANA ARB2257C ice maker makes noise/doesn't eject cubes into bin

Hi: First off make sure the fridge is level. Is It too high in front? Making the rear of the icemaker overflow and jam? Also make sure the freezer section is a zero degrees, not just frozen. Ice cream should be rock hard. I hope this helps you avoid calling service. Thank You, Jeff

I removed the entire unit again, looked at it, removed the front cover, and decided I wasn't going to take anything else apart. When I reinstalled it in the refrigerator, it started working again. Possibly the wire connectors just needed plugging in the clean them again.
