I would recommend you go to Paslode.com and under support there is a section for cleaning of these tools. I can tell you how to do it but it is indepth. What kind of cleaning solution do you have? You can't just use anything to clean them. Also the red light on means a failure. Does the fan work? Does it have fire and it also means that the battery is weak. They also have a good troubleshooting section on the site. Let me know if I can help further.

SOURCE: framing nailer not setting nails
No need to replace any parts. There should be and allen screw type adjusment somewhere near the front plate where nails exit so as to adjust depth, may be black plate with arrows up or down depending ---loosen screw, push up/down as needed, tighten test and reset as needed.

Remove any nails in the magazine, and you can carefully take a pin pinch of a size that fits into the nose (where the nails come out). Try to carefully tap the driver back into the gun. This will sometimes clear the jambed nail. If the driver is severely jambed you will have to dismantle the entire unit to separate the driver from the nose of the nailer.

Make sure to blow out the magazine where the nails load, make sure the spring tension on the nail clip is working properly, make sure you're not holding the clip somehow with your off hand so the clip can't feed correctly.

SOURCE: What is my framing nailer?
I would go to Campbellhausfeld.com and under products look at the couple nailers they list. They do have a 28deg nailer and also a 21deg, so you could be right in thinking that it is a 28deg, they also show how to find the model number if there is still a tag on the tool. This would be a start to identify your gun
