Somehow my outlook files are gone or have been deleted... the repair utility is not working either... i just installed office 2007...
This Outlook pst repair tool claims to be capable of recovering and repairing damaged or lost PST files such as Outlook emails, calendar, folders, tasks, notes, journals, contacts, attachments etc. Maybe you should take a try. The software extracts & restores those inaccessible Outlook items in a new .pst file and enables complete Outlook data recovery. Hope it helps.
If you are looking for effective solution for PST recovery then use RecoveryFix for Outlook repair software to deal with corruption issues in Outlook PST file and recover deleted as well as damaged emails of Outlook. To know more visit http://www.pstfiles.org
For resolving out like problem exist some interesting instruments. One of them I know, it's the next software, which owns all necessary facilities for such issue - convert ost pst.
If your using outlook express then it probably is not compatible. as it is not the same as outlook If that PST file was orignally from Outlook 2003 it might not be comatible. I would try to reinstall outlook 2003. if you have 2007, why wont it load, did you load the enitre office 2007 suite, word, excel, etc did it install correctly? where did this install come from? If you have the office 2003 I would recomend installing that. or ever try to reinstall the 2007 again!!!!!!
or try this open outlook put that pst file where you can easily find it..
Choose Profiles and add a new profile
Import the file with File -> Import -> Messages -> Exchange. Eventually Express will ask for a .pst file.
Hope this works?

What operation system are you using?
Open Outlook
Click Tools
Click Options
Click Mail Set Up Tab
Click Data File Tab
this should opan a list, then click on Open File Location
That is where your PST files should be. If it is the old one is there I dont know?
( I am using outllok 2003 for this I believe the setup is the same?)
or
Open Saerch all Files and Include Hidden Files, and type in PST it will find it eventually..
this is the default path to the pst file
I would try to find it an move it if is there,
or try to search for it using search,
then I would either try to do a system restore , or uninstall outlook and reinstall
Otherwise I dont know what else to do for this.. sorry...
Note The default location of the PST files in in is a hidden folder. To use Windows Explorer to navigate to this folder, you must first turn on the display of hidden folders. In Windows Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Folder Options. On the View tab, under Advanced Settings, under Files and Folders, under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders. If you want to see all file name extensions, clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box under Files and Folders. Hidden folders appear dimmed to indicate they are not typical folders.
This is from Microsoft there is a tool you can download here for the PST file as well..
How to manage .pst files in Outlook 2007, in Outlook 2003, and in Outlook 2002
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287070
move that PST file someplace safe... to unistall
click start button go to control panel
click on add remove programs
in the list you will see either MS Office or maybe Outlook 2007
you can remove, repair or change the files from there
Contact your administrator! are you logged in with administrative rights? rename the pst file to something Oldfile.pst (pick any name)
did you remove the pst file before reinstalling this. if so, when you create a new profile, a new ,pst file is created. The file name should be something like Outlook.pst
If your pointing this to the correct file, it says it is not compatible. your pst file might be corrupted.
move the file to a place where you can find it. then try this or see the previous adding pst file from tools..

There is a way to convert a pst file to cvs file, I just cant find it right now?
You might want to have your Tech friend come by and help you out a bit.
as for side note: you paid $14.99 for a chat session that did not resolve my problem... he suggested that i just stop using outlook altogether. how do you get $$ back?
My answer I dont Know.. I aint getting money for this?
I am here trying to help, and I am volunteering to do this. It is not real easy without seeing your desk top, and seeing what is really going on! (to many variables to deal with here)
I cant believe this guy gave you that solution? That is no solution. I hope you find a way to get your money back? I dont know i havent gotten any money.
If worse come to worse, you can create a new profile and set it up, maybe your server still has email on it which it will download once you connect.
but if the address book is lost that is the real hassle.
Just remmber in the future when you decided to change or so called Upgrade, save those pst files. Back up all files.
Mike

I cannot open outlook... that is my main problem... my .pst files are missing and/or corrupted... that's not working either.... even the repair utility is not working....
i am using xp
i found the data file... i dont' know why it isn't reading it... :-/
i tried about 4 system restores... the system tells me 'cannot restore to this date...'
how do i uninstall just outlook?
ok... UPDATE!!
I found the pst file... I got outlook to open by deleting the old profiles and creating a new one (it's a really old version, i don't even know what year it is)...
NOW, when I try to direct it to the correct data file it says "{file name} is not compatible with this version of Personal Folders information services. Contact your administrator."
Now what?
i'm not using express at all.
Unfortunately, i uninstalled office 2003... now i only have ms office xp small business... everything else worked/works except outlook... the pst file that it needs is in the same folder with the other file it is pointing too...
the install i have came from a disk... a 'tech' friend bought it for me...
side note: i paid $14.99 for a chat session that did not resolve my problem... he suggested that i just stop using outlook altogether. how do i get my $$ back?
Thanks, Mike....
I followed the import directions... still says the file is not compatible... I think I'll have a different tech friend come and help me with this...
You should try www.crossloop.com. I use it when I want to work from home on my supervisor's computer.... it's free desktop sharing...
