Electric Clothes Dryer Starts... Then Stops!...

On my GE electric clothes dryer, (Mod. # DBXR463EB1WW), the unit will starts at the turn of the "START" dial, then cut itself off after only a brief second. Initially, there's a quick little "Hum," then nothing. It also appears that the tumbler doesn't move for the brief second that the "START" dial is engaged. Thanks in advance for any and all help...

SOURCE: Dryer Starts... Then Stops!...

Sounds as if you have a bad motor. That humming is a big give away. Unless its less than 3 years. I would replace it.

Why does the dryer cut off after approx 5 minutes

Dryer: Starts then stops. If an electric dryer starts but then stops before the load is dry, a clogged exhaust vent may have caused the dryer to overheat and trip the thermal fuse. ... A bad drive motor, failed timer or faulty electronic control board can also stop the dryer before the cycle ends.

It doesn't work at all
There's no heat
It won't tumble
Drying is too slow
It overheats
It seems to run forever
It's noisy
It won't start
The light doesn't work
It blows fuses or trips the circuit breaker
My clothes smell bad!

Ge washing machine fills up with water on spin cycle

Sounds like the timer is screwed... Sending out the wrong signals and the dryer is doing the rinse cycle when it should just be the spin cycle. Do t know what your timer looks like in that washer but most now days look like the picture. 11_11_2013_2_52_52_am.png

Dryer is heating, but stops before clothes are dry. could this be a sensor issue?

Timer might not be calibrated correctly. Could be the amount of clothes and how heavy they are (e.g. blue jeans?). Give the clothes more time to dry
