Ford EcoSport facelift and Tata Nexon are the most exciting offerings in the sub-compact SUV segment with impressive styling and useful features. However, being in the same segment they are the arch-rivals and if you are thinking of buying any of the two, it becomes very important to know which one is better.
In terms of styling, Ford EcoSport facelift
looks more matured than the previous version with an aggressive front-end. It has the looks to boast off, which overshadows the premium appeal of the Tata Nexon. Moreover, EcoSport is slightly taller and longer than the Nexon, while Nexon is substantially wider among the two. The updated Ford EcoSport offers a 50mm longer wheelbase than the Tata Nexon.
Mechanically, the 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine of the Nexon produces 108 bhp maximum power, which is 9 bhp more than the same capacity diesel engine of the facelift EcoSport. However, the new Ford EcoSport offers two petrol engines - 1.5-litre unit and a 1.0-litre EcoBoost variant, which delivers more power and torque than the Nexon.
In terms of price of both the cars, the Ford EcoSport facelift is to be priced between Rs. 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs. 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Tata Nexon is priced frugally starting from Rs. 5.85 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs. 9.44 lakh (ex-showroom).
If you look into both the products, they are equally well-designed products and are best in their own way. The affordable pricing and powerful diesel engine are the advantages of Nexon. But, if your budget allows, the 2017 Ford EcoSport is better overall.
