Hold down the adjust button bottom right then press the mode button top left you will notice the a or p that stands for am/pm will disappear & reappear. If you have an a or p on your display then you are out of military time.

Received my Breo watch in the post today, and i thought it would be simple enough to change the settings...however when i press the A and M button on the back nothing happens, i've pressing it lightly and with more pressure but to no avail. the manual just says to press it, so am i doing something wrong?

You need some thing with quite a small point like a fairly sharp pencil
to depress the buttons fully.
Just pressing the M button will display the date, to adjust the date and time press the A button, first press allows you to change the month, second press the date, third press the hour and fourth press the minute. when you are on the one you want to change use the M button to scroll through the numbers.
