Format my laptop? that would cause more pain. Download an Undelete program. There are a few that are free and work well. Insert your SD card and start the program. Navigate to the card and scan. Hopefully the results will show the deleted files. Highlight them and recover.

Okay, heres the bad news, there's a good chance that you will not get all of your pictures back. The good news is that most formatting only allocates space as empty, it does not actually overwrite it, so the picture data may still be retrievable.

I have used a sweet little freeware program called Restoration, which can try to recover deleted files from hard drives, jump drives, flash cards, ect, and have had great success with it. Heres a link to the download page:

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.HTML

Like I said, it probably wont' restore all the pictures, but I'll bet long odds that it can get most of them back. Good Luck!

It might be how the sd card is formatted. Sometimes the computer will not recognize a card formatted with a camera and therefor not be able to read it. I would recommend connecting the camera to your computer and copy the images off using the camera. If the camera is no longer working try buying a used one off ebay to recover your pictures.

I have the VPC-S600. My husband accindently formatted the SD card with photos on it. Can I recover the pictures?? They are extremely important??? The Sd card is a Polaroid 2GB by PNY Please help????

Once the card is formatted, all is gone. A computer has a sector of the hard drive that "format" doesn't touch but portable storage devices don't have that protection.

you can recover photos from reformatted sd card with a professional photo recovery program, here's how you can do it
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended asoftech photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked), download the program from

4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your lost photos.

Memory card wont read

The pictures should be in the memory card. You may try some photo recovery software to rescue the files on your memory card, here are some for your options.

Photo Recovery (for Windows)
Photo Recovery for Mac

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the card in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.
