Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I've just bought a desktop from Cube (the Polaris ST12) which comes with Creative Inspire T6100 5.1 speaker system. The connection instructions which come with the speakers show 3 cables from the subwoofer connecting to 3 output sockets on a PC sound card, but my PC only has 2 outputs (coloured light-green and blue). There is a third (pink) which has a microphone symbol, but I assume this isn't for connecting the speakers. So how do I connect up my speaker system? The cables from the subwoofer are coloured orange, lime-green and black which appear to correspond to centre/subwoofer, front and rear respectively.

The blue is for a audio in and pink is the mic. Green is the audio out.
You will need to buy a new video card that has all 4-5 colors (green,,black, orange, blue, pink, white)
That way you can plug in all your connections and it'll work correctly.

Hey, I've got an HP Compaq D530 SFF desktop machine whose sound card uses the SoundMAX drivers. The problem is that when I connect earphones/headphones on the front panel, and try to listen to music or...

if you go to the bios (restart computer and press del to go to setup) you should be able to look around and find the option for internal speaker. Set that option to disable and do not change anything else unless you know your way around. Save it and restart afterwards and it should disable the internal speakers.

My sound went down to half volume in all 4 altec lansing speakers. no signs of errors in device manager, tried system restore-no luck. checked all cables / connections-o.k...what else?

Look into the software and make sure you havent turned it down by accident. Then go to the spaker on the start bar and click on the speaker and look at the volume control and set as necessary . look in software for creative software and check in there . Set as necessary.

Internet plays when not logged on

these days, computers are permanently connected to the internet via cable or dsl connections.  if you use either of those, you are still connected to the internet even without a browser open.  most likely you are a victim of spyware.  install ad-aware or spybot s&d to scan and remove any offending programs.  then download hijackthis and check for bho's.  if you're having trouble, google a hijackthis forum.  they'll have more experienced users with knowledge.  just post your hijackthis report there and they'll tell you what to remove.

I need an adapter for my computer so that I can use all Logitech speakers.

There is no such adapter. What are the four colors of the wires? How old is the computer? What is the model?

How to hook up speakers to emachine t3638? i have the klipsch 5.1 set

The EMachines T3638 comes with High Definition Audio support and you should be able to connect a 6 speaker system (1 subwoofer and 5 speakers).

I believe they are color coded as well. I believe the speaker set you are referring to is the Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1. Is that correct?

Below is the a link to the connection instruction manual. It is a pdf document that you can print out. The instructions for installing the Speaker set is on pages 3 & 4 under Signal Connection and Speak Connection.

http://www.klipsch.com/media/products/owners-manuals/ULTRA51MANUAL_ENGLISH.pdf

It should be pretty straight forward, but send me a note if you have any questions about the process.
