    Upon changing batteries which made no difference to my reading I went on line to check anything else. I was getting height and age registered and then ERROR on my screen. It did not matter which of the numbers i pressed - they all came up with the ERROR. The instructions found eventually on the website suggested to CALIBRATE and so my question is How does one calibrate my Tanita Inner Scan BC 541 Body Composition Monitor? Hoping that clarifies the question suitably. Thanks. Sue.

That means that our personal data has not been programmed, follow the steps on p.3 on manual below.
Make sure socks or stockings are removed, and the soles of your feet are clean and properly aligned with the guides on the measuring platform.

If that does not work, try using guest mode ( one time wighting with no programming). If the unit does not set up in guest mode, or if does not self program, contact the manufacturer, as unit may be faulty. Contact page.

Your machine needs re-calibration. The following are symptoms indicating that it needs to be re-calibrated:

  • An "Error" or "Sub" code might appear on the readout;
  • The digital display might not "zero out" after your last measurement;
  • The results might be erratic and/or non-repeatable.

There is no DIY procedure to calibrate your machine. It should be done in the LAB of the manufacturer with the help of other sophisticated machines for accuracy purposes.

Tanita BC-552 Body Composition Monitor Won't Turn On

I contacted Tanita for you and am working on the manual the link here is for the download however the file says it is currupt maybe it will work for you. if not I have requested it from tanita.

Thank you for your e-mail.

It appears that this could be a battery connectivity issue.
When you change the batteries – please insure that you are getting a nice tight fit and that the positive side of the batteries are making contact with the inside wire. Sometimes the batteries can differ in length so you can gently pull on the coil to help make it fit more tightly. Also take a look at the inside contact points to make sure there is no rust. If there is rust – you can clean by using a green kitchen scotch-brite pad & a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol.

If you continue to have problems we may be able to replace under warranty.
Your scale does carry a 10 year warranty but you will need to have a copy of the original itemized receipt (or order confirmation if purchased online) in order for us to process a warranty claim.
