Gateway desktop can't read a sdhc 32gb memory card

well it should read it unless the reader is incapable of reading cards of that capacity.. Are you sure the card is good ? try it on another reader..

A firmware update wont be of any help there since the capacity is HARDWARE not software. If the card is good you will need to replace the reader to a newer model or acquire and external card reader.

How much memory will this model hold and what kind shoud I buy

One way to find out for sure how much RAM your computer can hold is to go to WWW.CRUCIAL.COM and run their SCAN MY COMPUTER feature.

This handy utility will scan your hardware configuration and tell you exactly how much RAM you currently have installed and what type it is.

It will also tell you how many RAM slots are fitted on your motherboard and what the maximum memory capacity is for that motherboard.

If your computer does have room to add more RAM, it will provide you with specific recommendations as to exactly what type and size of RAM stick to get to maximize the memory capacity and performance of your computer.

Thank you and good luck.

It is up to 1TB per drive. RAM is totally different and has nothing to do with HDD capacity.

Opening programs is so slow virtual memory running low

which operating system you are using and what is the ram capacity? and onemore thing to check what is your virtual memory capacity. for that

Right click "mycomputer" > properties > advanced >click settings on performance > in advanced tab > increase virtual memory file size.
generally its size is ram capacity * 2 (ex: for 512mb its virtual memory size is 1GB) check that and we can increase the file size also.

Gateway Foxconn C51GU01 (105552) Problem: blue

Possible a memory socket is bad. Make sure you are using the correct type of memory including parity and compatible speeds. It is recommended to use like memory sticks in each slot. Some PCs even require the sticks to be equal memory capacity. User's guide should tell you what the compatible capacities and speeds should be. If you don't have the manual, you can get by looking up your PC model number on Gateway.com.

I suggest that you read your motherboard's instruction manual because there are certain limits especially on the capacity of RAM since the motherboard contain chipsets and this will the data to run smoothly from the processor down to your memory. Most likely motherboards especially the old model ones have limits of capacity( most likely up to 512MB or less). If your'e using the old model, then, its most likely that it reaches to its exceeding data limit.

Memory upgrade

I like all the information you gave. However the information you are looking for is in the manufactures web site. goto search engine and enter your computers manufactures name followed by the word "support" find the site and then look up the details for your computer. The reason I say this is because each slot can only control a certain amount of memory. The manufacture will tell you what each slot can control and also the type of memory supported by your motherboard. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT> never mix memory. Make sure of speed and capacity. If you mix diffrent speed and capacities the results could end in total failure.
