My monitors colors are all DARK

This is controlled by the menu of the monitor. There is a series of push buttons on the monitor that you use to get to the menu.

You can adjust the brightness and contrast of your monitor to improve the readability of text and to make digital pictures appear more like they'll look when printed.

To improve the results when adjusting the brightness and contrast settings for your display, use Display Color Calibration. The way you adjust brightness and contrast varies and depends on your specific display.

• Brightness and contrast buttons on the front of the monitor. Some monitors have brightness and contrast controls on the front and use the standard symbols shown in the following image.

• On-screen menu. You can change the brightness and contrast settings for some displays by using an on-screen menu, and then setting the brightness and contrast in the resulting menu. Many times, you can view the on-screen menu by pressing a button-possibly labeled Menu-on the front of the monitor.

To adjust the brightness and contrast, do the following:

1. Press the either the Minus button and highlight the option you wish to change.
2. Press the Menu button to select the highlighted option.
3. Press the - or + buttons to adjust the brightness/contrast settings.
4. Press the Menu button again to accept the changes.

Follow these instructions :

1. Turn on your Samsung monitor (if it isn't already.)
   

2. Press the "AUTO" button on your Samsung monitor. This will run the automatic configuration utility. This will look at your current computer settings and adjust your monitor to best match those. This will take a few seconds. If this has calibrated the monitor to meet your needs, you are finished with the process. If it hasn't, continue to Step 3.
3. Press the "Menu" button on your Samsung computer monitor.
4. Use the arrows and the "Enter" button on the monitor to highlight and select various settings categories.
5. Use the "Brightness" menu on your Samsung monitor to adjust how bright or dark you want the image.
6. Use the "Colors" menu to adjust how prominent certain colors are displayed on your Samsung monitor.
7. Use the "Contrast" menu to adjust the level of black on your Samsung monitor.
8. Select "Save and Exit" to save your changes and exit the Samsung monitor's on Screen menu.

There is a small row of buttons on the bottom right of the front panel of the monitor. From these buttons it's possible to adjust: Gamma correction, Brightness, Color balance, H/V position, Color temperature, and Contrast. By pushing the menu button your choices should be diplayed on screen. If there is a choice of "factory default" try that and it will take all adjustments back to as they were when it was set up when new. You won't find buttons to match the adjustments I mentioned above. There may be just 3 buttons but by way of the on screen menu they are enough to acheive what you want.

From past experience I'd say it's possible someone has been playing around with the buttons and upset it's settings.

you have to open your monitor, and adjust the brightness on flyback transfomer, if you are unable to do that then ak sombody who is more related to electronics

In your monitor panel you'll find 4 buttons. Press the menu button and get into Magic Bright. There you can choose the one that best suits you. You can even set to Dynamic contract where the monitor adjusts the brightness according to the elements on the screen

you can download a utility like rivatuner to adjust the videocards gamma up to the brightness your looking for if the monitor will not adjust brighter with the controls on the front of your monitor. rivatuner can be downloaded free (just google or yahoo "rivatuner downlaod".
To be honest with you, I would replace this with a 17 inch LCD monitor, which you can found at tigerdirect.com for 89 bucks.
If you do have issues with this older monitor, it would be less expensive to replace it than fix it..
