Question about Symantec Computers & Internet

Norton Firewall Difficlty

I get a continual Program Alert from my Norton Firewall program: "A remote system is attempting to access your system." I'm using Windows XP, and a DSL internet connection. I continually (at 3-5 minute intervals) get this message even though I direct the program to "always allow." The messages appear whether I'm on the net or not.... VERY FRUSTRATING

I suggest not using norton. Goto www.avast.com and use the Free home-edition. Set your windows firewall back to defaults after norton is uninstalled.

Make sure to have Avast scan every file on your system. You very well maybe infected.

Please do not think norton is all that great because you payed for it. Get Avast.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How do I delete a widget from my status bar menu. It won't drag and I have uninstalled this app.

Un-install it by accessing the control panel . After un-install, access the program files at C partition, and delete the residue folder named Mcafee there. Re-start the system.

There are some flash games i cant play. my flash play is up to date but i was told it could be my fire wall how do i fix it???

If these games are online in-browser games DO NOT DISABLE YOUR FIREWALL!!! Browser games do not need you to disable your firewall. Disabling your firewall is like putting out a welcome mat for hackers and spyware. Are you sure you've updated to the latest flash player. Go to the Adobe website and check if your version is the same as the latest available download. Version 10.2 is available at the moment.

I tryed to put Norton security on my new Toshiba Mar. 23 2010 Went through the hold thing even gave my credit card info.Got a e-mail Cogratulation me with all the correct info. I made a phone call later...

I could never recommend Norton. It's bloated, inefficient and tries to take control of your computer away from you.

Save yourself some frustration and try something else.

Windows' built-in firewall isn't bad--especially in Windows 7. Comodo firewall with antivirus--free version-- is efficient, but needs a lot of manual permissions.

I've been using Aviva anti-virus--free version--for years and am quite happy with it.

Round things off with Spybot.

You can have these programs up and running in no time, without cost.

You can remove the awful Norton things in Control panel> add/remove programs.

Good Luck!

I can not get into poker on face book looked on several websites with no help please help me unblock firewall port 9339

You will need to obtain information from the manufacturer of the Router if you are behind one and if you are running a software firewall such as Norton 360, you will need to get instruction on how to configure Norton to allow access on that port.

Would suggest getting your money back ASAP.
There are other solutions out there and in my humble opinion work far better. Best of all, These are free to use!
Ounce of Prevention is worth a pound of cure:
Spybot search and Destroy (spyware remover)
Comodo firewall (excellent and easy to setup)
ZoneAlarm Firewall (One of the best but not for the novice)
(Basically anything but the windows firewall)
Tip: Only run one firewall!!!!

AVG Free virus protection
NOD32 Virus protection (excellent but not free) 30 day trial however.
HiJackThis (Be careful with this one.)
IObit360 (Highly recommended and fast!)

Remember: Only run one firewall and one Virus program at a time.
Running more only slows your machine down to the point of un-usable.

Good luck!

Our monitoring system reported the following event. Just want to know the severity and what does the message entails. Alert Details Alert CategoriesEvents - SNMP Traps DeviceLTC DR Pro100 Firewall Alert...

Your firewall keeps a log of events. It periodically overwrites or starts a new log. It has a place in it's settings to put an email address so that it can send these logs to person overseeing this device. It is upset because it is trying to email the log to you but their is something wrong with the email address it is trying to send it to (could be empty, typo, etc...), find and check the setting for email address.

Different programs access different ports on a computer. You can go to portforward.com and check to see which ones you need to enable on router. What I would suggest is to access your router interface, if you have one, and go to it's Application/Gaming tab and enable the program with it's specific port. Then go to the program option section and enable the same ports you did on the router.
