SOURCE: How do i connect Panasonic sc PT480 home theater

Ok, so first, you need to get the pictures to the TV. So, you should have an HDMI lead from the Bluray to the TV. You should have either an HDMI or SCART lead from the Virgin Box to the TV. If you are going to play and DVD's from the Home Theater system, this too needs a scart to the TV, but if you are planning to use the bluray for all playing back, then this is not needed. Next, you want to get the sound from all your equipment to the home theater system. This where it can get confusing, as there are different types of leads that do the same thing. If your TV has an 'Optical Out', and the Theater system has an 'Optical In' then you can connect the two with a Fibre-optic cable, and that means that anything then that you have on the screen, can have the sound through your surround sound. Digital Coaxial In's/outs do the same thing, as do Phono In's/Outs, but phono cables will not carry 5.1 digital. I hope this helps!

SOURCE: Hi there, is there a way to get my goodmans ghc58

There is an optical output from your Virgin + box but there is no optical input in the Goomans, there is only 5.1 input. The only way to do it is to connect the re and white phono audio output from you virgin box to the red and white tv inputs on the goodmans, this will sound good but it will not give you dolby digital sound.

You need to connect the cable signal into the TiVo, activate the TiVo with Virgin Media and then you can record using the record button on your TiVo peanut-shaped remote control.

SC-RT50 Decoding Surround Sound From Aux and Inputs

The other players need to be setup to output digital sound. Assuming you are using a digital or optical audio cable, go into the setup screen of the Blu-Ray or Tivo etc. and select the audio setup screen. Set the audio output to PCM.
