First go to this site: http://www.fujitsu.com/downloads/COMP/fcpa/scanners/fi-4340c_maint-guide.pdf and download Fi4340c PDF, look over directions on cleaning Pickup Rollers be careful with handling delicate plastic moldings. After a good cleaning Test Unit. Now left ADF unit back as to service and power off a minute or 2. This should reset and bring back the normal "ready" display.

This seems you've logged in to your PC as user. The clear option is sometimes not highlighted in user login. You need to login as Administrator to reset the count.
