Question about GE Profile JTP18 Electric Single Oven

1 Answer

Fuses keep blowing on panel, is it possibly a problem with the oven shorting?

The light display keeps working, but the fuses blow quickly. When the fuses are replaced the oven works fine for a few days.

Problem start when i turn Oven only on teka, then the fuses blown up. I can still use grill but whwn I turn to oven fuses go blow up again.

Hi! It seems it is not the heating element! It seems to be before that. Either a short circuit delivering to much current thus causing the blow. I would check the corresponding cable all the way to the circuit and the circuit elements corresponding to the oven element. The grill and oven elements being "independent" explains why grill still works. (A short circuit seems quite possible to me!)

The control panel went out the oven fan still blows but the oven does not heat up nor do the panel light up

if this is a new oven/stove its possible there is a fuse that has went out. pull away from wall (unplug) start looking everywhere you can for a fuse, keep a magnet handy to keep your screws together, or just place in a bowl. also a flashlight is handy. try to hunt down the issue yourself if you cant afford to have it serviced. I had my refrigerator stop cooling , fan was blowing just no cold air, I pulled it out and looked inside the motor area and noticed a wire had been chewed in half by a mouse, unplugged it ,spliced the wires back together, black tape, plugged back in and shazam ! fixed..then the mouse hunt began!! good luck

My microwave oven blows the fuse as soon as i press the start button.

If there is spark please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is leaking and sparking to the ground. Also the wave guide can be faulty. If it was stored, it is quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. When you switch on these will create a short and make the voltage jump and in the long run damage the magnetron. This large drain will blow the fuse.
So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off.
Now keeping clear switch on , use a cup of water inside to test.
If you notice any sparks shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. replace with same type.
If there is heating without any issues , you can use the microwave safely

It sounds as if the oven element short circuited and tripped the oven circuit. You will need to reset the oven circuit breaker or rewire the fuse at the switchboard.
If the oven indicator light comes on when you turn the oven on you will need to replace the faulty oven element.

Problem with electric oven

Either your fuse holder/breaker has a bad connection and has a voltage drop tripping your power  or  your heating element is shorting to it's outer jacket which is grounded.  Check your heating elements carefully for wear and disconnect that element and see if it trips still.

no connection between lights on fan. problem is that bulbs these days are poor quality (but cheap)
it is common for these circular elements to go. usually last about 2 years. worth checking tho that fan is turning at right speed

The high voltage capacitor is probably shorted, (large, silver, oval shaped part). typically .98mfd to 1.02mfd
