How do I dump my memory?

  • rachroy Oct 23, 2008

I have done that, in fact that is when the error message began appearing, after i pressed the reset button. I had pressed the reset button because it was displaying an error message that was written in Chinese. This was occurring while trying to enter an address. This is really a mess.

  • rachroy Oct 23, 2008

OK I've tried this several times. I'm not getting a screen with a black dot, just the usual intro screen and then the error message. Will throwing it out the window help?

  • rachroy Oct 23, 2008

    yes, thank you very much.

Hi,

I suspect firmware issues and/or condensation/water damage. Considering the time element and the importance of the GPS in your forthcoming travel and if after everything else and the unit would not function, then I believe there would only be two (2) options:

  • seek the services of a reputable service shop who can repair it on time and guarantee it; or
  • acquire a replacement.
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

If none of those solutions work, you might need to get an update or reinstall the software from the cd that came with it. This will be best because the memory will be cleared from the memory stick so you can have a fresh start and no more of the memory problem.

try this(from another posting for tips and tricks under this model number)

1- Turn off unit. 2- press and hold the bottom right corner of the
screen. 3-While still pressing and holding bottom right corner, press
and hold power button and continue holding both until a white screen
appears with a black dot. 4- follow the on screen directions and your
unit will be back to the day you first got it.

Have you tried to reset the gps? I will look into this and post more to you in a minute.

Try to reset the device, there should be a reset button or a hole that needs to be pressed to reset the device, the device is most likely out of memory, try to clear up some space into the device or the memory card. Hard to find details on your product, I will keep looking.

My FujiFilm FinePix F47 fd has an error message that keeps saying 'Read Error' Help Please!!!

Hi,

The Read Error message displayed on the Camera when accessing the images which was not recorded correctly. This may also happen when the Memory Stick is corrupted to record or read the files. Please check if the message is displaying when accessing all the images. If it happens with all the images, then it may be an issue with the Camera or the Memory Stick.
To check if the issue is with the Memory Stick, try using a different Memory Stick and check if the message displays. This may also happen when an attempt was made to play back the image or the movie that was not recorded on this camera.
Try to wipe the contact area on the Memory Card with a soft, dry cloth. It may be necessary to format the Memory Card (Format option is available in the Setup 2 Menu of the Camera). If the message still appears, service may be required.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Memory card error

If you get a message on your camera such as "Memory Card Error" AND there are no photos that you want still on the card, the first step is to format the card through the camera menu (Note: if you have an xD card, once you re-format your card any photos cannot be recovered.). Read your camera manual to see how to format your memory card. If this does not help, try another memory card (say the small 16/32mb card that came in the box with the camera). If this card does not display a "memory card error", then the other card is at fault.

If you do have valuable photos on the card, then DO NOTHING (do NOT format the card, do NOT take any more photos). You need to undertake a photo recovery. For options on Photo Recovery, click here. Once you have recovered your photos and archived them, then reformat the memory card through the camera as outlined above.

SR-16 gives message "ERROR: 01" when powering up

You likely have lost the internal memory data. This can be due to a power surge or that the internal battery has been depleted. The battery may need to be replaced.

You should reset the unit and reload the data, The manual is available online. Search Google for it.

The manual STRESSES the importance of backing up the data.

If you don'thave the backup, you MAY need to find another SR-16 owner to clone the data from.

This problem is due to the mix of registered and unregistered DIMMs. 64Mb and 128 Mb DIMM's are unregistered memory technology 256MB is registered memory technology. A mix of registered and unregistered memory prevents the server from completing startup, and results in an error beep sequence and a blank screen
