Bosch Brute Breaker

I own a Bosch Brute hammer that runs good, just will not hammer with any force. Can you let me know what I need to do to fix the problem. I have torn the unit apart, and looked at the cylinder/driver assembly. Everything looks correct, but it still does not work. Can you let me know what I need to look for? Let me know. Thanks,

Frank Morton

What age is the machine? If it is fairly new it might just need to be run a while for the grease to loosen up. If it is older you will need to make sure it has enough grease. These tools don't need a great deal of grease, but too little will soon be thrown about and disperse too much. Another problem with these is if the inner cylinder, that moves up and down to create the pressure for teh striker, has a hairline crack, it can be quite hard to see when the part is dirty. When running though air will leak out and you will loose hammer action but still have plenty of vibratiion. Another thing to check is to take the piston/cylinder and striker out and hold it facing down. The striker should slide out slow and steady. If it falls out too fast then the cylinder and/or striker is worn. You may be able to rectify this by applying a bit more grease. If it doeesn't fall out at all then there is a build of grease behind the striker causing a vacum holding it all together. You can solve this by pushing the striker in a little way, and leaving it standing for an hour or so with cleaning solvent on top. It should work it's way in and help release it. It may still need to be 'persuaded' out a bit aswell.

One last point, if this is the same as the UK '11304 ush27' there is no piston ring that could be replced, so if the problem is wear to the cylinder/striker it would mean replacing the actual parts. Not as cheap as piston seals unfortunatly.

Check your brushes. The brushes on the Brute breaker have a spring loaded, non-conductive pin in them. When either brush wears down far enough the pin pops out and prevents damage to the expensive armature. If by chance the brushes are OK you may have to have your armature tested.

Purchased a brute hammer at a garage sale and it is missing 1 of the 3 springs from the area where bits attach. Is this an easy fix and or expensive Thanks Mark

Parts are easily available for your hammer. Check on ebay or There is a service kit available # 1617000050 that includes set of bolts, orings, grease, brushes etc. After the service kit is installed your hammer will be ready for serious work . This kit does not include springs (#3614640501 each, uses three ). Good luck ~ greatest electric hammer ever made!

How do I drain the gear oil from a Bosch Brute Jack Hammer

Brute hammer uses special grease sold as service kit. This kit contains enough grease to lube hammer and replacement bolts that hold springs along the bottom. Check for parts and kit. Remove the lower half (tube) of hammer, also remove three bolts that hold springs and remove assembly from tube. Wash out old grease. Grease will be oil-like only when hammer is very hot, otherwise grease is paste-like. Good luck.

Bosch brute 11304 runs but does not hammer at bit end. Any advice?

Sounds like you have a broken connecting rod. The easiest way to check for this is to remove the 4 cap head bolts holding the cylinder on and remove it. If the hammer piston comes off with the clinder you should be able to see the break. If that is ok you may have some stripped gears or a broken spindle somewhere. But I really think it is the connecting rod.
