My Goodman DSZ160361AE doesn't run. When I start it up it will run for about 4 seconds then shut off. I get an error code of 7 yellow blinks which means run circuit or compressor windings

Get rid of the hard start cap. Hard start capacitors should never be used in conjuction with normal compressor operation. Contact your local dealer for goodman and find the correct dual capactor for your machine and install it. Odds are your dual capacitor is either not functioning properly due to over voltage strike or it is the wrong size. On the wiring to your compressor, black is normally common and lead directly back to your main contactor. The red wire is the running lead and again normally goes to the c connection on the dual capacitor which leads back to the other side of the main contactor. The remaining wire on your compressor goes back to the herm connection on your dual capacitor. You may have swapped the wires for your power supply to your capacitor. I did this once and I figured it out about 5 hours later after I performed a wire by wire check against the wiring diagram. If you switch the wire around you turn the start windings into run windings and vice versa. They are not designed to be interchangeble. Just check your wiring against the diagram and the problem should clear up.
Hope this helps.

I have a Goodman CE48-1GC outdoor unit, it just stopped working last night completely. I have verified the control switch is in fact being engaged when on A/C, however the fan and compressor are not...

A defective capacitor will prevent the compressor from starting. If as you say, the contactor is engaging, then it's either a defective capacitor or compressor motor. I'd check both, starting with the capacitor. The fact that the contactor is working, eliminates some other possibilities.

Heat pump drawing too many amps

If you are over drawing amps on start up and the breaker trips then you probably have a locked or"sticky compressor. You can check this by looking at the sticker on the compressor it will have a rating called LRA(locked rotor amps). If it your amp draw is at this or above this number then your compressor has locked up. Now if it reads lower than this then it needs helps starting. Either way you can try a hard start kit. Just follow the instructions on the package; they have just two wires to hook up: one will go to c on the capacitor and one to herm if you have a dual capacitor, If you have separate capacitors for the fan and compressor it just goes on the compressor capacitor. Easily identified by the higher rating. Now if your high rating is during run time then you should replace the compressor capacitor and see if your amp draw falls in line. If it doesn't you most likely have a bad compressor.

Goodman ck36 1b a/c. Capacitor replaced 2 years ago. Unit is 13 years old and thermostat is Honeywell, also 13 years old. This summer there seems to be a 3-5 min delay (from when thermostat registers call)...

If you have a AC unit with electric or gas its doing what its supposed to do, let the pressures in the system equilize before starting again, If you have a heat pump its doing it there as well you just have not noticed. Anti cycling is a good thing, 4 to 5 minutes is normal.

Goodman heat pump stopped cooling

yes, but I would try a "hard-start" kit before replacing the compressor itself

What type of start capacitor do i need for a goodman ckl 30 1L

Air Conditioning Compressors are Permanent Split Capacitor motors that use a "Run" capacitor. You can purchase a "Kick-Start" which is a hard starting device.

The fan on my outside heat pump is running slow and the compressor attempts to start but quickly stops and trips the braker.i was told that could be the capacitor. could it be?

depending on the outside temp compressor may have a hard time starting in cooler weather. I would us a hard star capacitior connected to your existing capacitior and this should take care of the hard starting problem.

Goodman Air handler blowing fuse if switch outside unit not runni

Sounds like your compressor in your heat pump is siezed . You can try a "Hard Start" Capacitor...which basically gives your compressor a kickstart and works 95% of the time when compressors get older....It's hooked up in parallel with the existing Capacitor...if you're not familiar with Electrical etc I would call an expert and mention what I said . If this doesn't work you will likely need a new Compressor/Unit . You could also have a short to ground in the heat pump side....likely the compressor is the problem however the original Capacitor could also be the problem

Goodman Condenser - Heat - Buzzing Noise every 60 seconds

It could be your compressor trying to start but not being able to do so. It shouldnt happen that often but in cold temp the overload protector may cycle that quickly. I reccomemnd to have it checked to salvage the expensive compressor.
