Question about Hunter 28190 Charmaine Antique Brass Ceiling Fan

Open Question

I have a Hunter 28190 Charmaine Antique Brass Ceiling Fan, the remote has never worked.

I have a remote that has never worked for my Hunter 28190 Charmaine Antique Brass Ceiling Fan. The remote part no. is 85752. I tried the fix of syncing it by pressing the 3 speed button, then the 2 and then holding the 1, until you hear a click, but no sound is made and it doesn't fix it.

SOURCE: Hunter 3 speed ceiling fan now turns slowly

Probably a bad capacitor. What model is it? If it completely wireless (in other words: no pull chains for light or fan) the capacitor is located on the receiver for the fan (in the canopy or the lower switch housing). Unless you are handy with a soldering iron, it is easier to purchase a replacement receiver.

SOURCE: Hunter ceiling fan is stuck on high speed

If it has a chain, buy a light dimmer switch so it will not have 1 speed anymore. If it has a remote control, buy a new remote control like your old one. Try different numbers on remote control.

SOURCE: Hunter ceiling fan remote problem

You will most likely need to replace the receiver with a new one from hunter. The receiver is actually a complete controller and contains the receiver, relays (which you hear clicking) and starting condensors(large capacitors which hold a charge that is "dumped" over the windings to get the motor to start from a dead stop). These appear to be pretty tightly assembled unless you have a desire to start replacing parts "off the board."

How to sync the remote with the fan?The remote was operating the fan, but someone must have pulled the chain on the fan.

I have a ceiling fan that fails to operate under remote control whenever a power outage occurs. The solution is to pull the chain to guess which is an ON position, then operate the remote to select fan speed or off. Same routine for the light, if there is one.

Remote control is not functioning properly. Will turn on, using "high speed" button, but then drops to "low speed' wil no rmain on 'High speed"

the receiver in the fan is going out, they do all the time with remote set ups, also remember that if the fan has been wired through a wall switch,, this will hinder the remote from working properly

How do I replace the light pull chain that broke off inside the base of a ceiling fan?

You will have to replace the entire switch. The switch is held in by the collar that the chain (used to) comes through. It just screws off. Then you have to twist off the wire nuts for the switch wires inside the light fixture part. Did I mention to make sure that the electricity is turned off before you do this? The switch is available at most hardware stores.
