Re: print head problems
The website or the link get you to the place. shows you step-by-step how the printr head is to be install.
if you don't have the printer, then all bets are off.
this is what I get out of the web site. http://www.kodak.com/global/plugins/acrobat/en/service/manuals/AiOPrinters/printhead/AUR1780-9_UE_RevC.pdf
it is fair easy, remove all print cartridges, remove the print head by unlatch it (pull up and front).remember how it was seated in the carrage.
left it out.
to install the new one, remove the 3 plastic portective shields and reset it in the carriage. and snip it in place. install the ink cartriges.

I have the MP610 model, which may very well be similar. I recently had to buy a new printhead because I did not use the printer often enough and no end of deep cleaning would clear the blockage on one of the ink jets. Not cheap, so if you could share the advice given on how to attempt to clean a printhead, I would be very grateful.
I did hear you could clear blockages by running hot water over it, but the engineer from Cannon said there was nothing I could do - but then he would would't he. I noticed he insisted he took my printhead back for refurbishing, so it can certainly be done, if you have the right solvents and know-how.
If it helps, you get to my printhead by lifting the two 'lids' as you do when you replace the ink cartridges. You take out the inks; use the lever and the printhead pops out. If you assembled the printer when it arrived, it is just a simple reverse of that procedure. The same inks can be replaced later; the engineer said there would not be an air-lock problem.
Let me know if that works. I can look more closely at my printer to be more specific if that would help.
try try again..........check that the print spoller is on in device setup
I had this problem;
Printhead replacement instructions are in the users guide.
THIS WORKED FOR ME --AND IF YOU CALL THE TECH SUPPORT # KODAK WILL SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT HEAD........
Power on printer, the printhead rides on a carriage that is connected to the ribbon cable. When the printhead is in the center position and movement is stopped REMOVE THE INK CARRIAGES. DO NOT TOUCH THE INK-PADS OR THE CONNECTION POINTS. You can just place the ink carriages on their side on a clean piece of paper.
......... To separate the printhead from the carriage press the release botton(above the bulls-eye sticker) in the top center of the printhead. You will hear a click and the top of the prinhead will pop forward about 1/4 of an inch. GENTLY lift from back (where you pressed the botton) to front and lift the printhead up and out of the printer.
---------U will see where the printhead and the carriage connect-------
It is best (very important) to not touch the shiny contact area
Now you are ready to install your new printhead.
BE CAREFUL BE GENTLE............Place the new printhead into the carriage and again at the center top back bulls-eye press back until you hear the click and the printhesd is secured in the carriage.......... replace the ink carriages.......
I would power off the printer and wait about 60 seconds then power on and run self test.
TO RUN SELF TEST
power on the printer and wait until the printhead is in the center position THEN press photo and copy buttons at the same time, you will hear the printhead carriage start to move and a test print page will print.
CHECK for print quailty; run all diag. from the help tab as needed.
REMEMBER; IF YOU THINK THE PLASTIC WILL CRACK U ARE PRESSING TOO HARD....... KEEP IT CLEAN, BE SAFE
For all of those problems, you need to replace the Printhead. This is one of the most common issues among the Kodak All in One Printers, they simply stop printing text. However, it seems that Kodak is sending out some new printheads that work so much better, so you should get in contact with their support and have them replace their printheads. Call 1-800-421-6699.
Return the printer to the store. I had to do it myself 3 times. First I got a 5100 with the printhead error, got a replacement the day after the scanner was producing distorted image. Upgraded to a 5300, the scanner wouldn't work at all.
To avoid problems get yourself a Canon or Epson.
Hi Did you have any print jobs sent to the printer before replacing the printhead. It seems that the printer is trying to print a job and since the usb cable has been disconnected and reconnected the printer is printing blank pages or misc text.
I've had this problem on and off for quite a while now. I find the printhead problems are due to ink drying overnight and the printer cleaning mechanism failing to wipe it off (that doesn't work properly as the machine ages). An error comes up then that a printhead is 'bad'. I remove the printhead and clean it with a propriatory fluid (which is meths basically)and that cures the problem. However it is vital that after cleaning you wipe the printface and all the contacts dry, and I mean absolutely dry, with a tissue or similar. It must be totally dry or the error is reported again. I periodically give this treatment to all the printheads as the machine doesn't wipe them clean anymore like it did when new. Hope that is of some help.
