RIT dye "white wash" turned lace blue

I had some dingy white undergarments that I wanted to turn brighter and whiter. A friend suggested RIT white wash. I used the stove top method and was very excited at first because it looked like they were turning very white. However, when I rinsed them in warm water, the lace trim on both the undershirts and underwear turned a bluish color (aqua). The RIT dye company suggested using Oxy Clean to reverse the problem but it didn't do anything. Help?

You were too heavy handed with the blue. Soak them in bleach and water overnight, about a cup bleach to 20 cups of water. If that doesn't work, try peroxide undiluted. Alternatively, treat yourself to some new underpinnings.

SOURCE: LG washer (WM0532HW) whites turning dingy grey

I too have a front load washer. The problem is that it's not washing off all the soap suds. Try this. After a complete cycle, soak the clean clothes in a container w/ water and you'll see there's still soap suds coming out of the clothes. I tried running it several wash cycles and there was still soap left on the clothes. I think, it's mfg defect. We should all complain to the maker of the machines.

How to redye bleach stains on navy blue jeans How to re-dye bleach stains on Navy blue jeans?

You'll Need:
-1 box of rit dye navy blue (or denim blue)
-1/2 box of rit dye black
-3 gallon or so bucket
-Hot water
-GLOVES
-Optional blue making/painters tape

You can get Rit dye from walgreens for like $3 but may be cheaper elsewhere. If you check the first picture it shows the difference in shades of color for denim vs. navy blue. Choose which one you feel is better. (Navy blue is a bit darker but more "blue") You can add the full box of black dye but obviously it'll be much darker and closer to black. I find half is a good amount. The size of bucket doesn't matter as long as it hold enough water to fill over the jeans. If you have levi's or other jeans with one of those papery tags on the back you can cover it up with masking tape. I have tried duct and packaging tape and so far blue painter's tape works the best.

YOU NEED GLOVES unless you want smurf colored hands...

Note: there is a way to dye your jeans using a big pot over the stove but that makes a mess in the pot and is INCREDIBLY hard to clean

Ive got bleach on my black clothes, is there any way to fix it properly?

So sorry. The worst part about bleach is that it is very good at permanently erasing pigment.

You could theoretically dye your clothes (if they were all pure black ... it's going to dye everything, including prints). Look for "Rit". You will have to do it several times, and don't expect a miracle.

Also, when you're done, be sure to run the washer with nothing in it, so you don't accidentally partially dye your whites with the next load.

I have a front loader dryer and the inside is turning blue, causing my clothes to be tinted blue.

If you have washed some NEW blue denims, some of the dye will get on everything. Blue denims are often a pain, and if you wear them before washing them they will get that same blue dye all over you.
It didn't hurt your washer, just run a couple loads through and add a little bleach to the whites. Note that if you put bleach in with OTHER colors, they will fade.
The trick is, never wash ANYTHING with blue denims, especially when they're new.

I live in the country in NC. My water is well

For brighter, softer, stain-free clothes, add 1/2 cup Arm and Hammer® baking soda to your regular detergent in the wash cycle, then add 3/4 cup Heinz® white vinegar to the rinse. Soak really dingy clothes for ten minutes in the baking soda-detergent mix before washing in the hottest water fabric will accept. Vinegar smells should vanish after clothes have dried. Many online voters said that this worked best.
