Toshiba laptop not getting power

My toshiba laptop is not getting any power. it was running fine the night before and then shutdown due to low battery. I tried the a/c adapter and it does not work. The LED light for the power adapter does not come on. When I try to turn the laptop on the on button lights up for a second and then shuts off.

Its sounds like either your power cord is fried, or you need to replace the power jack in your laptop. Unfortunatly, this is a common problem for toshiba's.

I just purchased a toshiba mini notebook NB 505 it has about 5 hrs. of time on it. Went to turn it on the other night and when it starts up the screen was lite up but nothing else. I can not shut down...

It happens when the NB was not properly shutdown, NB was turned off due to battery drained and left idle or worst there is a problem with the mother board. You may try this; Turn OFF the laptop, remove the power sources (ac adapter and battery). Without power sources, hold power button 10 secs. Put back the power sources, and power ON the NB. If the laptop will not boot by doing this, take it back from the reseller for replacement.

My Toshiba laptop hangs when I plugin the power AC, but it works fine when running on battery. I am able to charge the battery when laptop is in sleep or shutdown mode. I have the latest BIOS. What could...

This is a middle pin issue, you will find the laptop doesn't charge either but will power the unit, if the power is connected, the laptop will hang and use reserve resources, if you unplug it, the machines performance will dramatically increase.

replace your power adaptor and all will be fine, i have had the same issue.

Toshiba Satellite P205-S6237 won't Boot up after full shutdown

i think there is some issues with the OS because i noticed you can't shut it down properly so maybe the files needed in order to shut down had been corrupted but one more theory, the bios settings make sure that everythings configured properly there by checking the power options on the bios setup(the blue screen)so try setting it to default and change the boot priority to HDD,CDROM,FLOPPY.

Hi i got Toshiba laptop with model no PSPA6A-01J017.The problem is it getting shutdown frequently.I also noticed it is getting too hot when it is operated contintuosly for couple of hrs. plz suggest me...

Hello,

It could either be caused by overheating or a low battery. If it happens when the laptop is plugged in to power. You can try a laptop cooler. You can see an example of one at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834999336. You can use others as long as they match the size of your lcd.

If it only happens when running on battery, you may need a new battery. You can check http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp and enter the information on the bottom of the laptop on the silver Toshiba Sticker. Specifically the line between Toshiba and the model number. You can enter that at the above support page.

Thanks

Power problem

A common failure in these units is Q401, Toshiba p/n# Bz510004 is a 2SA1624 (HV amplifier) which finally fails due to a resistor R408 Toshiba p/n# Bz210285 a .47 ohm/1w metal oxide having changed in value and at last opening...
This isn't an expensive repair for a qualified shop - but I would suggest not continuing to test your shutdown circuit. What's happening is that HV (high Voltage) is builds beyond tolerances and the shutdown circuit turns your unit off to keep from causing any severe damage. If it failed you could likely burn out the SMPS or cause some substantial damage..
Good Luck!
