My blackberry curve starting texting weird, i pressed 1 letter in a text and that letter plus 5 other letters would appear, til i got to the point i couldnt text at all. now its just went to screensaver...

Hi
seems like you have a problem with the keypad. may be a water damage or moisture damge keypad near the track pad. thats make your keypad malfunctioning and it just keep sensing like you keep pressing a key while even if you are not using your phone. you can try remove your battery and put in a bowl of rice for 1 day or you can try drying your phone with air dryer. if its still the same issue then you may have to clean your keypad contact. thanks.

Keys #9, back key and * key are not working

Mine is doing the exact same thing, the 8, 9, # and * keys don't work, with the 5 going down the same route, have to press it so many times for the right letter! Can't find anything on the internet about a solution, just other people reporting the same problem. I've had to make do with copying and pasting the right letter into a text, takes ages. Think it's just excessive use on the buttons, but as a few other people have had this problem, it's obviously a fault with the phone.

Jumbled numbers and text

Look for the numlock light somewhere near the keyboard. It's the light with a drawing of a lock with a 9.

If it's lit up. turn it off by pressing the numlock key.

Turning it back on will activate the number keypad (consists of 9-11 keys in the middle of the keyboard). So instead of getting letters, numbers appear.

Hope this is your case. Kindly rate me if the issue got fixed.

To form a jumbled words

Using VB as an example

Dim intLength as Integer
Dim y as Integer
Dim arrOut( ) as String
Dim TempLetter as String
intLength=len(text1.text)
ReDim arrOut(intLength)
Randomize
dim boolDone as boolean ' flag to track unfilled positions

Write a loop that gets each letter from text1, then choose a random number from 1 to intLength

Get the existing letter, then put it into a different position in the arrOut, based on the random number. If something is in that position, try again:

for y=1 to intLength
tempLetter = mid(text1.text,y,1)
boolDone=false
do while boolDone=false
r =CInt(Int((y * Rnd()) + 1)) 'Get random # from 1 to length
if arrOut(r) ="" then 'see if spot has been used
arrOut(r) = tempLetter
boolDone = true
end if
loop
next 'get next letter in text1

text2.text=join(arrOut,"") ' concatenate arrOut, no delimiter.

Hope that helps.
