Try transferring images from your phones gallery via Bluetooth. Go into your tablets settings, click Bluetooth settings, click make this device is discoverable. Go into your phones settings , click Bluetooth settings, click find devices around me. There will probably be several devices. Make sure and click your tablet. It will ask to connect say yes. It may ask for a password. If you have never set one up this should be 0000 or 1234. Make sure they're communicating and then go into phones gallery and click menu, there should be a transfer images selection. Make sure and transfer using Bluetooth. I hope this helps. You could also upload pics to your private gallery on Facebook from phone and then download onto your tablet. :)
Apps. Select Google.
If that doesn't work select uninstall updates. You will be questioned if you want to reinstall factory version. Select yes.
If that doesn't work back up and reset tablet.
Sounds to me that your tablet is syncing pictures from a cloud or another account. Try turning off autosync options. Also, are you deleting the duplicates directly from the "files" I mean, not from the gallery viewer.
As for the video playing, try deleting all video player apps (or at least pause them) from the apps tools.
No need to worry about it. First thing to do is to stop using the Samsung Galaxy because you keep using it, the data overwritten situation will happen and you will lose your files forever. To help you a lot, try uFlysoft studio software. For Mac you can try uFlysoft Data Recovery Mac, Windows try uFlysoft Photo Recovery for Windows, just connect your device to your Mac/Computer and run the software to recover lost pictures. Hope it can help.
