Question about Hotpoint Aquarius WD63 Front Load Washer/Dryer

1 Answer

Hot washes won't start

Whilst the washing machine works fine on a 40deg wash, the machine just sits and humms when a hotter wash is attempted. Any ideas why?

Check the hot water supply is switched on- it sounds like the valve is energising but no water is gettin through !! also check for hot water blockages. easy test is to reverse the water pipes at the back of the machine to test. tony.

Which cycle is the hottest

Hi Shonda.

the answer will depend a bit on the specific washing machine you have, and on the settings. There will usually be settings of hot, warm, and cold for both the wash and rinse cycle. A hot wash and hot rinse will keep you at the highest overall temperature during the wash.

There are a number of washers that have internal water heaters that can optionally be activated, usually with a panel switch. This lets them boost the water temperature in the event that the water coming from your water heater isn't that hot - say if you've turned the heater down so that kids won't scald themselves at a sink. The heater option, if there, will make the hot water hotter, though you'd have to look in the manual for you particular machine to see how much hotter.

Conversely, if you want hotter water in the machine, you could raise the setting for your water heater, though you should be mindful of whether this will endanger anyone. You'll also use more energy keeping the heater hotter, so bear that in mind.

Hope this helps, and Good Luck!

I HAVE A KENMORE ULTRA WASHING MACHINE IT STARTS TO FILL AND STARTS TI AGITATE THEN THE POWER CORD GETS VERY HOT AND THEN SHUTS OFF THE MACHINE STARTS TI HUMM!! WHAT COULD IT BE ? MOTOR? CAPACITOR,COU

That sounds dangerous. Check to see if it's still under warranty and get it looked at. If it is past it's warranty date contact the store where you bought it, or the manufacturer and find out the cost of fixing it. If it is more than the price of anew one do your washing by hand or get a new machine. To do washing by hand just soak everything in your laundry tub over night and rinse it out in the morning. Hang it out to dry.

My washing machine fisher and paykel MW 511 will wash fine but when it gets to the rinse cycle it stops. The lights remain the same (no flashing or beeping) and the motor smells hot. It starts again after...

You have a restriction in your drain line or pump. Also you could have a pump going out. It will smell like a bad motor. So check for a restriction first.

No water flowing into drum, water supply is fine, just humms

My Samsung washer was not filling with water after cleaning the debris filter. All I did to fix it was to dump a half gallon of water into the tumbler, then I ran the beginning of the rinse cycle and it worked. It seems like the pump needed to be primed.
