Bsod and VIIV not install

Hi i have done a clean install of windows media centre with 1 gig of ram and mobile cpu merom t5600 1.83/2m/667.

Before i did anyother installs i got the full updates and the HD audio driver from windows update.

Then installed all the lastest drivers etc chipset GFX....

But on the disc and on abit website there is the driver for the VIIV and IFF these will not install as it say platform not supported.

And i get the BSOD windows says its the HD audio driver (but i got the driver off them)

Last thing is when i change screen settings to HDMI output at 1080p the screen is to but to show all the desktop on my 40inch LCD T.V.

Many thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,
When performing a fresh install of windows, the very next thing that a user should install are the drivers from the motherboard CD. (This means install the Intel chipset software utility)!
(Do not run windows update service's first)!
Install all the drivers from the manufacture, "EXPECT the, Viiv software driver". You'll need to get media center updated to SP1. Than install the Intel Viiv software.
Once the system is stable, than you can download & install updated drivers from Abit.
(Check the date of the drivers on the CD against the drivers on Abit's web site & download & install the latest drivers). Check that the system functions correctly. Check your bios. See the bottom of page 3-10. in your manual, HDMI Port Display. Than read page 2-17. Realtek uses jack detection software.
Than continue with windows update services.
I'm not sure about the last issue in your post. I think you are saying the TV is not showing all of your desktop! Check the display settings in your TV & set you desktop to display to 1600 X 1200 @ 60MHz. You might have to play with the desktop resolution rate to get all onto the TV.
PC display to TV display is not a strong point for me. I don't want you hanging on the display issue so I'm going to suggest you post this issue with a fellow expert. Click the Ask me button on Benimur's link. He's pretty good at item like PC to TV. http://www.fixya.com/users/benimur

Ram compatibilty

Yes you can but the higher spec DDR2/800 RAM will run at at lower speed same as the DDR2/ 667 RAM.
When you install the DDR2/800 RAM and the BIOS only detects 1Gb of RAM then this RAM is not compatible with the 1st RAM module. In this case use RAM module that is the same make and speed as the original RAM module.

Installing XP = BSOD

Hello

Without the actual info from the BSOD, we have to provide general troubleshooting tips.

Since Windows is not yet loaded, it cannot be a driver or software issue - so we need to look at the hardware.

Typically, a faulty or unrecognized RAM stick and / or an unusual BIOS setting can cause this issue.

Go into the BIOS and reset the BIOS to factory defaults, remove all CPU overclocking.

Remove all RAM and try booting with only 1 stick installed.

If this does not work, try and give the error message from the BSOD and we can look into it for you.

Blue screen of death, cant seem to be stable after trying everything . thinking it may be a memory timing issue, using 4 gigs of drr 500 mushkin redline. will give further discription if you tell what info...

It could very well be the timing but it may also be the voltage setting. find the specs for the memory from their website, timing and voltage and enter your bios and make sure the voltage is set to the right parameters. The timing isn't as critical as correct voltage. I also wonder if changing the memory positions may be causing the error. My mother board made me use slots 3,4 not 1,2 kinda strange but when I switched them no more bsod. And remember windows 32bit systems will only use/show 3.2 gigs regardless of how much physical ram is installed. I hope this helps you and good luck.
