Playing a recorded dvd from dvd-vr375 on another dvd player

I can't get discs I've recorded on the dvd-vr375 to play on anything but that dvr/vcr recorder. Is there a way to get them to play elsewhere or do I have to have a 375 everywhere I go to watch my recordings?

I tried using DVD-R and DVD+R, and neither worked on other machines, including other Samsung machines.

I had the same problem. The fix was I just needed to FINALIZE the disc-Gary in Ky.

I HAD the same problem with my Samsung DVD-VR350, and after reading the comments here, I solved the "problem" by Finalizing the discs.

If you are using DVD-R media, you can record in either V or VR mode.  What is confusing is that if you try to format the media, you only have the choice of VR mode -- and this mode is very well understood by other dvd players, some other records do understand it.  This mode has much better editing capability, but poor compatibility.  If you want compatibility, use the V mode.  The trick is that to do that, you don't format it!   V mode is the default and does not require formatting.  The owners manual says that, but too well hidden if you ask me

Check the mode of recording, there are two types, one being editable will not play on most other devices.
2. check whether the discs are finalized
3. If you are using re-writable discs, you may not get the option to change the video mode, so try using regular dvd -r or +r discs.

I called Samsung. They said to use the dvd-r instead of +r.I'll post tomorrow and let it be known if this corrects the issue.

I have a zenith dvr/vcr and the finalized disks cannot be viewed on other devices. I have finalized it dvd+r.

The suggestion provided by Orion523 might work. Have you tried not finalizing it and seeing if it will then work in other devices? I assume you mean you are using DVD+RW disks. Good luck.

After dubbing from vhs to dvd, the dubbed dvd is placed into a PC but it comes up saying the dvd is blank..We used a dvd+R dvd. Any ideas?

First did you finalize the disc after dubbing? When the DVD/VCR recorder is in stop mode, press Menu and navigate to Disc Settings > Disc Finalize and select Finalize and press Enter. Select OK and then Enter again. (Navigate the menus with the up/down arrows followed by pressing enter. Use the right/left arrows to highlight an option.)

If the disc was finalized, try a different brand of DVD+R or a DVD-R disc. I've seen some DVD recorders that don't work well with some brands or types of discs. (The same can happen with computers - burning a coaster.)

The manual is available here: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/Samsung-DVD-VR375-UserManual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

When I insert a DVD-RW disc in my DVD-VR375 it tells me 'this disc can neither be played nor recorded'. Why is this happening?

This message alert prompts you check and make sure that there is no dirt or scratches on the disc.If so clean the disc surface with a soft dry cloth and try again. Please don't use any liquids or solvents to clean the disc.

Hope you are satisfied with my solution. Thanks for choosing Fixya.

After recording a program on a DVD+R disc, the TV screen says "Disc Finalize Processing...." and nothing else works. I can't stop it, watch it, finalize it, or power off.

The DVD burner in your DVD-VR is defective. Get it replaced at a service center. Is is not able to read the lead in lead out information from your disc. Try playing one of the disc you have written on another DVD player.

Tried dubbing VHS to DVDs, worked okay. But I cannot get the DVDs to play on my laptop. I used DVD-RWs. What kind of DVD do I have to use?

It depends on the specifications of the DVD drive in the laptop. Go to the website for you laptop manufacturer and look up the specifications. You also have to have DVD playing software. It is was not always included with the Windows operating system, although some kind of player may have been packaged with your computer when sold. DVD-RWs are recorded at slower speeds, which makes bigger dots and make not work with all DVD playback drives.

Dvd-vr375dvd not playing some discs

try cleaning the lens but be careful when doing this, also your dvd machine may not be compatible with other disc formats, normal dvd players can only play dvd video and some vcd. Not all dvd players will play DVD-R/Rw or DVD+R/Rw discs, check your owners manual.

When I record a dvd on my vr375 it will not play on my DSE dvd player .I am useing a Sony -RW DVD

before the disc will play on other players, you need to "finalise" the disc. Finalisation ensures compatibility with other devices. Go into the "Setup" menu, and look for "Disk Manager", there will be a finalise option. select the option, and after approx. 3mins the disc will play on other players.
