Hi, well I looked at what the electrician had done and there is no live power wire connected to theC1 lead on the fan block. The diagram shows there to be a wire field wired toL1, L2 and C1 leads. But C1 must ne a power wire from power side of the stat, so not sure I can find the right wire as per the electician install. Could I just jump off a live line before they are connected to any blocks?

I have wired the C1 with a jumper of live power, reinstalled the stat, but the fan still does not kick-on. The element does heat, but not too much.

SOURCE: marley md26 line voltage thermostat

The Black Wires from the md26 are your load(the heater) and the red lines are your line(power). The lines are also paired up on the thermostat with a red and black on the left and are red and black on the right. In the actual heater connect the black to the black wire and the white to the white and connect the grounds. In the thermostat connect the black from the heater to left side black( remember there are pairs left(black, red) right (black, red) and the white to the right side black connect the black from your power to the left side red and the white from your power to the right side red. Should be ready to go.

SOURCE: Marley B2451 wall heater

These are only 1500 watt heaters.

They 'could' heat a 20 x 20 foot room (with good, tight construction), with a slow temperture rise.

SOURCE: Help with wiring. the thermostate

I think what you have is a 220 volt thermostat. That is why it isn`t making sense to you.

My PLF504 detonated this morning (11-25-2010). It worked fine for two years then BANG. Room was lit by flame coming from center (left to right) of unit. I wrote Marley asking them to honor the 10 year heater element warranty. Also, no burnt wires at thermostat connection, no dust bunnies on the fins. Source of fire was the fluid filled encapsulated heater core. Thank God, circuit breaker tripped and wall was tiled.

Marley electric 3ft. basebord ,wiring w/thermostat

If your baseboard heater is rated at 220 VAC and you have wired it to a 120 VAC source then the heater will only produce about 1/4 of its rated output wattage. So, if you have a 2000 W / 240 V heater it will only produce about 500 W at 120 V. You may want to have an experienced technician wire it for you if you are not sure what you are doing. Please be careful and smart when dealing with electricity!!

My Dayton garage heater model 2E636B does not heat up.

These heaters are the same as the marley heater, the element never gets red hot. the unit is set up so the fan kicks on after the element has heated to a certain temp and turns off after the element has cooled. It is common for these heater fans to cycle on and off quite often untill the air temp reaches about 55 degrees and then will operate normaly. If the fan still cycles too often you may have to replace the fan control and high limit switch. These are not very expensive and easy to replace yourself. they arte usualy attached to the back of the element with clips. The luke warm air is what these units put out. I have an equivelent to the dayton G73 and it heats a 24' X 30' garrage all winter in central Minnesota.
