Question about Whirlpool GS6NBEXR Side by Side Refrigerator

Whirlpool refrigerator water dispenser not working

I have a Whirlpool side by side model ED22TQXGN00 with a thru the door water/ice dispenser. The ice maker is working fine but when I depress the adjacent water lever, I hear a humming noise but no water comes out. Can you tell me what part needs to be replaced? I have replaced the water inlet valve in the past when the ice maker wasn't getting water, so I hope that is not the problem. Could it be the bracket control (Whirlpool part number AP2988571)? I appreciate an email response to me at Michael.D.Hauser@BGE.com One last thing, can you explain how I can remove the front panel to get access? I'm told that it's easy to break and expensive to replace. Due to a leak, we had the water disconnected and were not using the ice maker/water dispenser. They were working perfectly before the leak. After two months, I repaired the leak in the water feed line. The ice maker seems to work fine, but the water dispenser doesn't. You have to apply an inordinate amount of pressure to the lever; the water stream starts out fairly strong, but rapidly tapers off. The water comes out at room temperature.

If you are still curious as to how to remove the face plate... There are 2 small slots on the bottom of the faceplate. Pry out on those and the plate slides up and off from there.

My ice maker has stopped working, the water continues to dispense thru the door yet the ice has stopped

Most likely the water control valve on the rear of the refrigerator is defective for the ice maker side of the valve. Try filling the ice maker with tap water and let freeze. If the ice drops and cycles and does not refill then the water valve is the problem. If the ice maker does nothing when you try this the ice maker is the reason. Send me your model number and I can tell you the parts that need replaced. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Whirlpool side by side GD27DQXFW01; ice cubes are not dispensing

We will need to check the voltage at the auger motor while depressing the dispense switch. If all the other features work on the dispenser panel while I would consider checking the voltage going to the motor. Some auger motors are in areas where water causes the voltage to be shorted by constant moisture. We will need to remove the panel and simulate what you have done on the outside but this time we need to see if the voltage has been altered or if the auger motor itself is defective. Sea Breeze

Ice maker isn't making ice, but the water works just fine.

switch the wires on the water valve (it has two plugs) and depress the water lever and see if the icemaker fills with water, if it does, change the icemaker, if it doesn't change the water valve. make sure there is no ice obstruction in the fill tube in the freezer

Freezer does not make ice

You need to check and see if ice maker has any water init. if not check the fill tube that goes thru the back wall for stoppage while you have it out rin the maker thru a harvest mode and listen for the sounds of the solonoid opening. If tube is full you'll need to replace the slow leaking valve a common problem. for parts call 704-819-6557

Water from ice makers leaks and builds up in botom of freezer

ice maker leaks are usually a sign of icemaker mold corrosion eating the lining off the icemaker causing it to leak. the only repair is to replace the complete icemaker. you will need a complete model number from the unit and the part can be ordered online thru whirlpool or some of the other appliance parts sites. you may even have a local parts warehouse where you live. hopw that helps peyton

GS6SHEXMLoo side by side ice dispenser not working

On advice from the tech I removed acess door. It was covered by frozen moisture.
I removed the motor it was full of water. I verified 120 volts at plug to motor from control
by depressing the door switch and ice dispenser lever at same time. The motor ohms out
but because of amount of water removed from it I am going to replace it and see what happens.

Whirlpool gold ice maker problem

  • The refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser (if equipped). The valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
  • Another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees.
  • In addition, check the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more water from entering.
  • note: The water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.

Whirlpool refrigerator water dispenser not working

My older whirlpool side by side refrigerator has stopped dispensing water. The icemaker works fine, and I have adjusted the temperature a week ago so I don't believe the line is frozen. I do not hear any noise when the dispenser is pushed down, and feel that is where the problem is. The line is clear on the bottom of the fridge behind the kick plate, but water does not come out freely when I disconnect the couplings...
Any advice?
