during these beeps there should be pause between them at some point...in other words you may get 2 beeps/pause/1beep/pause/2 beeps noting the number of beeps and where the pauses are will help. From what you are describing and without more info it sounds as if you are describing beep codes, and they generally can give us a lot of information.

That beep code indicates memory is not being properly identified or used. Try removing memory and testing with one module at a time until you find the one module or slot that is causing the trouble.

If your computer is beeping at you, 9 times out of 10 its going to be an issue with the memory or video. (more often the memory) Try re-seating both. If your still hearing the beep fest, below is a list of the most common beeps and what they refer to. This will help you to find out what needs replacing.

Long beep followed by 3 sequential short beeps. This issue is linked to your Graphic card configurations
Short beep followed by three sequential long beeps You are facing a system memory problem
Beep- PAUSE- Beep- PAUSE- Two sequential beeps This error is linked to your CPU
Three beeps-PAUSE-Three beeps-PAUSE-Four beeps You have an issue with the video memory
Three beeps-PAUSE-Four beeps-PAUSE-Beep This is linked to an error with your Graphic Card
Four beeps-PAUSE-Three beeps-PAUSE-Beep You have a system memory problem
Five short beeps You are facing a problem with your CPU
Long constant beeps It’s a system memory problem
Short constant and high-pitched beeps The temperature of your CPU is too high

Remove the 1 gig chip. Pull you battery out and unplug the laptop. Hold the power button in for 10 seconds. Put the battery back in and plug the laptop back in again and try booting it up. This should reset the BIOS and allow it to boot. The beep codes you are talking about are a memory beep code and it is normally caused by adding memory or a loose memory stick. Also try pulling the existing memory and resetting it.

6 long beeps indicates that there is a problem with the memory, take them out, clean the contacts and the DIMM slots and reseat them.

Without knowing what yo have for a BIOS, it is difficult to diagnose. The below link is a list of beep error codes for different BIOS types. Check your BIOS to see if it is one on the list and see what it means:

The 6 beeps are an error code. You should note a pattern such as 3 beeps, short pause, 1 beep, short pause, 2 beeps. Also, you may have a set of 4 error indicators on the back of the unit that will show a pattern of green and yellow lights. In any case, you will want to try to run the Dell diagnostics. Let us know the beep pattern and the light pattern and we should be able to give you some more specific information.
