Grey transparent vertical band centre of screen

As mentioned above, i have recently experienced a transparent vertical band that is much duller than the rest of the screen. it is about 2 inches wide. it appeared earlier today. i tapped the keyboard in the top right hand corner when i wasnt looking and the band appeared. whether this is just coincidence i have no idea. i have no idea why this has happened....its very frustrating. Please help!

Try to plugged in external monitor to your computer. If you did not experienced this problem using the external monitor then this is not a mainboard issue. This could be an LCD issue. You need to call the manufacturers tech support department and have your computer repaired. Same goes also if you experienced same problem using external monitor. You still need to call dell tech support department for mainboard replacement.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Try connecting an external monitor to the Dell Inspiron 9300 and see if the vertical line is also present on the monitor. If the monitor display is fine, then your laptop’s LCD display panel is defective. If the monitor also displays the vertical line, then your problem is with either the video card or motherboard located inside your laptop.
Not sure if the Compaq Presario has an external monitor plug, but if it does the above procedure can be applied to that one as well.

Acer 5670 screen has dark transparent vertical stripe

you will need to check the display cable and if that is ok, you will need to replace the display panel... You're getting a short on the circuit board causing rows of pixels to be blocked out

Here's your display on ebay...

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the video drivers. If this doesn't work, it's likely that the LCD control board or cable is damaged.
