Go here,

Under the bold Compaq/HP heading, scroll down to the subheading -
HP Pavilion dm1. (dm1 is in blue)

Scroll across, and click on dv2000, in blue.

This is a PDF file. The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.

After you click on the file name, (dv2000, it may take up to 30 seconds before the first page comes up.

BEFORE working on a laptop;

1) FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions.
Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit), the delicate hardware components inside a computer.

Buy, and wear an ESD wrist strap. (Electro Static Discharge)
Average cost is around $3 to $6.

Connect the alligator clip to a good ground source.
(I connect to an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of an open, empty desktop computer case.

Alternatively if you cannot access an ESD wrist strap, you could use an open desktop computer case, and touch it before, and during working on the laptop.

IF, you leave the laptop in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch that desktop computer case metal frame again, upon your return )

2) Use a multi-compartment container for the various screws you will remove.
Label each compartment for the area the screw/s come out of.

Alternatively, if no multi-compartment container is available, substitute with a clean egg carton. Label each egg holder.

SOME screws look VERY similar to other screws. DO NOT mix them up.

3) Make a personal record as you disassemble. Make notes, and drawings. Use a digital, or video camera if available. (Use good lighting)

It's nice to have a Service Manual, but even nicer to have a personal record to refer back to also, when disassembling a laptop for the first time, in case you are interrupted.

What is the problem? DC Power Jack? Post back in a Comment.

Power drain would be a better solution in this case.
1.first shut down the comp
2.unplug the charger
3. remove the battery
and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery. After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer
