No software a friend gave me a XI-300B wireless LAN pc card but no software. where can i find software for this card?

I'm assuming this card comes built it with the Compaq Presario C500 notebook. In that case, a possible driver for this card could be:

go in device manager select your wireless card,uninstall it then refresh it or restart computer,and alow it to auto install,maybe a program changed the configuration.Give me feed back on this at [email protected]

If you are connecting to the wireless router using LAN cables only then you can ignore the wireless setup part.
To configure Netgear wireless router and the wireless cards in the laptop and PC follow these steps : -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL : -
http://192.168.0.1
3. Enter the router setup, login and password : -
Login = admin
PW = password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router.

Check the Device Manager to see if the Wireless LAN device is working and enabled. If not reinstall the Wireless LAN driver.
If the Wireless LAN is OK and enabled then sometimes when you bootup the Wireless LAN card doesn't get an IP address from the wireless router. This usually has a red X on the wireless connection icon and sometime you get an error message "Limited or no connection".
To get the router to issue the wireless LAN card with a new IP address, righr click on the Wireless icon and click on Repair.
You can also power down the router wait 15secs and power up the router again then reboot the computer.
If it still doesn't work you could have a faulty wireless card, see it your friendly computer shop can test it for you.

yes i solved the problem. Remove the wireless lan. Start the computer go to regedit hkey_local_machine/software/Compaq Wireless LA delete it and restart. download SP23031 search on google and run without wireless lan W200. Restart with the card installed it will configure itself.

You can simply use or buy a router. Router will automatically network your computers without any special configuration.

if you have already installed the lan card , make sure to run the software that is bundled with the wireless card. then it has a set-up wizard that will go on , step by step. hope this help you out
