Question about JBL LSR 2328P 8" Bi-Amplified Powered Studio Monitor

1 Answer

Speaker monitor will not power up

I own a pair of JBL LSR 4328 P. I did not use them for 18 months. Yesterday, after pressing the power button, everything was OK for 5 minutes. Then I heard a weak crackle noise coming out of the left speaker unit after which the left monitor shut-off by itself. Pressing the ON button after checking the power cord extension (inverting the left and right extension cord) will not power up this left box. Is ther a fuse protection inside that I could change ? How can I open this unit ? Thanks ahead for helping ! Andre

Make sure your audio interconnecting cables are XLR or TRS balanced lines. Use of TS cables similar to guitar cables with only two conductors (only the tip and the sleeve) reduce the gain 6 DB and contribute to hum and noise.

SOURCE: loud buzz/hum started on jbl eon 1500 powered speaker one side only after power cut off and sudden power back on makes same noise on it`s own as well as with mixer etc could this be a transform

For some reason the soft on protection circuit has failed. it is not a simple fix and would require the amplifier module to be removed from the speaker to assess the damage.

First check the speaker with a multimeter.

Pull the input plate off of the back, there are usually light bulbs in there that act as fuses

The tweeters are not working

The crossover caps may have failed, or the tweeters themselves burned out. Using a small 1.5 volt cell touched across the tweeter leads should produce a sound. If not- they are burned out.

My JBL plays but it cuts the play back frequently like it plays and stops, plays and stops, plays and stops so on .Whats the problem. Please help

Until this is fixed, I would not use it or you may blow up a speaker... Make sure you check that you are using BALANCED audio interconnect cables, either XLR or TRS balanced cables AND that ALL interconnected equipment is poowered by the SAME receptacle... yes you have to run extension cords, but the pro's do it to avoid ground bounce damage to their equipment. Use ONLY three wire power cords.

YOU CANNOT DISABLE THE GATE. TWO SPEAKERS HAVE A PROBLEM WHICH APPEAR AFTER 20 HR USE. THEY WOULD CRACKLE SPORADICALLY AT A LOW LEVEL. THEY HAVE NOW BEEN REPLACED.NO LONGER AVAIBLE FOR USE.
