When I purchased the T.V. 4 days ago it accepted a DVD just fine. Now that i am trying to play the DVD already in the T.V. i get nothing. I had to eject the DVD by pressing and holding the eject button for 5 seconds. Now when I choose "Built in DVD" on my remote I get a no signal message.

our LG40 worked fine for 2 months now the built-in DVD has broken. We get a "no signal" message on the tv and it won't accept DVDs.

Same problem, worked at first now won't accept a disc. Seems to be a common problem. I'm guessing there is a switch or sensor that senses when you put a dvd in which turns the player on and sucks the disc the rest of the way in. Did the first poster get it repaired?

WHERE IS THE EJECT BUTTON ON THE 32LG40 DVD PLAYER?

  • mindydoug Jan 18, 2009

I just experienced the same thing. Have had the tv for two months and the dvd has worked fine until I ejected a dvd and tried to insert another movie and it will not insert. I also have the no signal message on the screen.

Yes this was very useful thanks a lot, it seemed the sensor needed to be reset!

Wouldn't eject or play--unplugged set for 20 seconds and now it works--thank you!!!

Had a CD in the player. When finished removed CD. Next day used the TV. Everything was OK. That night went to put a DVD in and it wouldn't take it. It said " No DVD" . Pushed Eject button to make sure that there was no disc. It said, no disc. Switched over to built in DVD mode and it said "No Signal." It seems the TV doesn't recognize the DVD player anymore.

The LCD/DVD may need a reset. Unplug the unit for 10 sec then plug back in. Instead of power button, push eject button. The blue DVD screen should appear. This worked on my unit which I had for only 2 months. If not call customer service.

Unplug, wait 20 seconds.  Plug back, and press Eject button 5 to 10 times, the TV will turn back on, do not jam the DVD back in, insert it in slowly but with pressure, the sensor should load it in without force.

I tried the solution from Medman922.  It did not work exactly as he suggested, but it came close enough.  I unplugged for 10 seconds, then plugged back in.  Pressing the eject button did not help, but when I powered back on, the player started up normally.

We have the same problem. But since the machine is less than a year old, and thus under warranty, I called LG, and they were very nice about scheduling a technician to come and replace the DVD component (for free).

My dvd player keeps saying 'incorrect disk' why? and what can i do to stop it?

I don't understand your problem.
Is it the TV or is it the DVD? You say you tried other dvds and the problem is still there. Looks like the TV is the problem. Sometimes it's hard to help people when they only mention on screen issues. How can first DVD say 'incorrect disk' and then another dvd, and another still say 'incorrect disk'? It just doesn't seem to make sense. Is the contents on the disk a computer recorded movie, film or home movie? If so, you have to record the film on the disk with a format that accept the DVD. Could the DVD be a Blu-Ray, can it play a number of video formats, DVD, DivX, KviD DVD, etc.? Try first with a purchased movie DVD disc, if it doesn't work, then the DVD is faulty. DVD players these days are meant to play a wide range of video format, including CD discs. If you have an old DVD player, you may not play latest discs. But if the DVD is incorporated with the TV, then you have to insert a new movie and see if it plays. Go to an appliance or TV DVD store and talk to them. Or you can purchase a new movie and insert it in. If it doesn't work, you can always return it. As you said, you've tried different DVDs, sounds like it is a separate DVD player. If so, try other movie discs. I get the same warning only when I insert discs with movies I recorded on my computer, such as Pinnacle video editor.

The make of the tv DVD combo is tosumi tom1024. I try to play DVDs. It reads the DVD 3 times then ejects the DVD. I have tried loads of DVDs.

You may be inserting the DVD the wrong way - try flipping it over so that the label is facing you.
Failing that, you may have to set the region that your DVD's are from in the Menu.
Is this a new TV? Have you played DVD's on it before?

Brand new tv with built in DVD player when you insert a DVD, it just pops right back out and will not play the disc

Hello there,

I believe you need to switch the TV to the DVD input mode before inserting a disc. There should be a button on the remote or the TV labelled INPUT or SOURCE. Try pressing this repeatedly until "DVD" is shown on the screen or use the UP/DOWN arrows keys on the remote to select DVD from the input list, then press OK / SELECT / ENTER to choose DVD mode. You should then be able to insert a disc and play it.

I need to check some details for this TV and will get back to you shortly. If the TV really wont accept any disc, then you've bought a lemon and the TV needs to be returned to the store for replacement asap. I will post back with more details below in a few minutes.

BElectric

Won't eject DVD and WOn't play

On the face of the DVD, look for a small hole that you can push a paper clip into. This should allow the DVD to eject. Check the DVD for dirt, dust and damage.

Make sure you have inserted the correctly; the label faces away from the TV/DVD player.

Built-in DVD player

Are you trying to play DVD's you've made or copied yourself or new one's you buy from an actual distributor? Because sometimes self-ripped Cd's & DVD's won't play on a LOT of DVD players. Otherwise it's bad DVD player and you should go get it swapped out if it's not too late.
