Question about Balance CM2015 15" LCD Monitor

Open Question

My Balance ICPower monitor, after coming out of sleep, just flashes continuously. The display and the power light.

I put my computer to sleep, and when I tried to get it awake, the monitor wouldn't come on; when it finally did, it just flashed. I can get it into Safe Mode, but it flashes so fast, I can't see to adjust anything. The computer is an emachine, and the monitor is a Balance model CM2015 15" (black). I tried it on another machine, but it does the same thing. Every time the screen flashes, the power light does too.

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: screen goes black

This indicates the LCD inverter in the display is dead. If you have any experience with computer repair, replacing an LCD Inverter can be easy enough; However, it may not be worth it for a 15" LCD; replacement inverters can cost anywhere between $15 and $40 - a decent used 15" LCD only costs about 40 bucks these days...

SOURCE: Power failure issues

Father2gabe, Try this! With fully booted KNOWN GOOD pc displaying the win-desktop, reconnect suspect bad monitor to PC. Then and only then turn on the monitorand note what happens on screen. What happens if you point a bright flashlight (torch) at 2-4cm from screen??? Do you see the desktop screen even though the screen remains black?
Also do search on web to find out how lcd monitors get WHITE LIGHT to shine from the rear side to the front side!! Yes, your AC adapter must produce the same DC voltages as the original nonfunctional adapter-brick did!!! I would suspect that the VOLTAGE INVERTER BOARD inside the monitor is not now or will anytime soon, produce 800-1200v ac to light up the "cold-cathode-fluorescent-tubes" (CCFL's) that are hung horizontally across the glass LCD panel. Get back to me with result of flashlight test. louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com

You do not really need the driver for the monitor for it to work with any PC, the only time you need the driver is when all the resolution are not listed when you try to adjust the resolution, it is really bad if you run windows 7 since a lot of companies will not provide windows 7 drivers for old monitors. You need to use Fn key combination with with either F4,5, 6, or 7 to select internal/external/both which depends on the make and model of the laptop.
The monitor work OK with desktop PC?

I repair hundreds of monitors and I would have gone crazy installing ALL the drivers for ALL the monitor I have to repair.

Please leave rating if it helps.

My monitor won't come out of sleep mode

when the computer enter the sleep mode, it is possible that the computer remove the check mark from this output activation.

When you have multiple ouptut like a internal LCD and output on a monitor, when going into sleep then waked up, laptop reactivate the internal LCD without reactivated the secondary monitor.

you could need to go in desktop property and reactivate the secondary monitor with the check mark listed : Activate.

If you only have one monitor but still a dual output card or two separate video card same thing can happend. try to connect the monitor on the second VGA or HDMI output and see if the video goes there.

then reactivate your secondary output and make it principal.

Does also happend when your computer is connected to a UPS power and your monitor is directly on the sector. (laptop issu also)

if a brief power outage arrive then the monitor shut down (no power) and the computer continu, as there is no monitor on the output any more Windows will automatically deactivate this monitor. when power goes back, this output is no longuer providing video. I suggest putting the monitor on a UPS as well.

Moniter will not come out of sleep mode

Hello,
It sounds like the unit is not really in sleep mode, a flashing power light and no display is a common indication of a failure of the power supply board. This type of problem is very common on LCD monitors. There are parts called filter capacitors that overheat and fail which cause the power supply to not be able to start up correctly so you get the flashing power light and no display. The power boards are repairable, it requires just a little soldering to replace the bad capacitors. You can get a kit of the parts here: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=343
I hope this helps,

I have a acer.x223w when,it powers up the.screem stays black, n i get a blue blinking light on.the bottom

I disagree with ikkenom only due to the symptom of the flashing blue light. This would indicate to me that the monitor is not getting any display signal and is in sleep mode at least the is what happens on my Samsung monitor. Used to be that they use a two color led in the monitor, green when ON and getting display signal and amber or orange when in sleep mode. I would check the computer by trying a different monitor. If you have a second monitor, great, if not, maybe a friend will let you bring your computer over and try the computer with their monitor. Could also be a display adapter setting. Do you get any change when you first turn on your computer? i.e. Do you get the BIOS or manufacturer screen when first turned on? Also if you disconnect the monitor cable from the computer and power cycle the monitor, do you get a No Signal display for a few seconds before the monitor goes black and the blue light starts flashing?

Let me know what happens with the testing above or if you need further instructions to carry out testing.

Thanks, Jim

Definitely it is not your computer. When it was given the signal to go OFF, it did but like completely off.

Comment by ohms, posted on Jun 19, 2008Oh one more thing, if the monitor still exhibits same issue after setting your Power Options as displayed above,

check your warranty with that monitor and exercise it.

Yep u got it ! warranty or new monitor

Monitor

Double check the monitor cable, both going to the monitor, and going to the computer. Ensure it's securely connected. If this doesn't change anything, try rebooting your computer. When the power light flashes, it's in sleep mode and doesn't detect either an analog or digital signal - so either your computer has gone into sleep mode (you can awaken it by hitting any key or moving the mouse) or the cable isn't attached securely. Since your computer is brand new, it's unlikely that anything has broken down already. Another thing to check is to make sure that the resolution in your Display Settings is the correct resolution for the monitor - although it's hard to do this if you can't see what you're doing.

Best of luck, hope this helps!
