If you have the model number of the unit you should be able to get a manual off of the manufacturer's ( who is now out of business) website. The website is www.desatech.com then you would click on Wall Heaters and go down to your model number and the manual will come up. If that doesn't work try calling Master Parts, they have a lot of the manuals. 800.446.1446. I hope this helps!

Presuming that you checked the obvious gas flow. It is most likely 1 of 2 problems. Most likely the electric igniter is burn out or cracked. when the unit is turned on it will glow red hot and then tell the gas valve to start the gas flow and then you have fire. BUT 2) if the roll out limiter switch lies to the machine and tells it 'Hey the fire is out of control! Shut off the gas' it will never open the gas valve to start the fire.
IF the igniter is cracked you may not see it. It simply won't work. If the roll out limiter switch is broken you definitely will not see it broken.
Both problems are common. Neither have a way of testing with a multimeter if they are good.
The third and very, very rare is the control console is broken. I would check to see if the glow igniter is working first.

can you look in one of the holes in the back and see if the inside glows orange after you turn it on? If it doesn't could be the igniter, if it does glow orange, clicks or clacks, and glows again 20-30 seconds later, click/clack and nothing, it's probably the gas valve. I'm going through the same thing with a new one and they had to order the valve and a new controller board in case it is bad too. If you are handy, have an electronic tester, and have the patience, go to http://136.166.4.200/contents/Laundry/DLG3788.htm for the service manual and disassembly instructions and see if you want to tackle the test flow for no heat. I just stumbled on the site.
